thanks for that, i was under the impression that you had to already have your learners Class A, in order to even come to the academy, right?

Anyone out there waiting for orientation in Neenah Wisconsin? I was accepted 2 months ago and I am still waiting...
-
Whoa swift allows you to log off duty personal use now? Back when I was there they didnt allow that. Would fire you for it. But they did let me take my truck home, but I lived in Alvin Texas then, close to the Houston terminal. Note swift trainees, Houston is rough, and nasty. Go in to that terminal to do what you have to and get out quick! -
I am talking with a Swift recruiter and he informed me that I would spend 13 days (7 days of week) and then go to the terminal at Edwardsville, KS so I can test for my CDL in Missouri since I live in Kansas City, MO. Then 5 days of company orientation before going OTR with a trainer.

Could very well be KCGuy. What I'm told by Phoenix is that all but Phoenix and S.A. have new training policies. Even Phoenix has a pre-school test or something. I was told it's to cut down on the number of people who come without the required paperwork and the ones who come unwilling to study; not to mention the ones who come unable to pass the drug screen. I guess they got tired of paying bus fare for slackers.

Terry Goodkind - Wizard's First Rule - "People are stupid."
Have you checked out the TV show they did from the Wizard's First Rule? The Legends of the Seeker, or something like that. I was sad. I LOVED this series, the books, and I never like what Holly weird does to my imagined heros.
Sigh. Ah well..

I have driven several years worth, but have been out of it for 12 years. Have to recert my CDL-A through expensive school etc. I went looking for a company with a refresher program for people like me. No good. SO the school has two suggestions.. Werner and Swift. Swift has a yard 25 mi from my house. Any thoughts? I can drive, haven't backed anything in for over ten years, so a little shaky about whether I can still handle it, but sure I will remember. Already did the written stuff and aced it. Did paperwork for Swift, and now hearing nasties and wondering about that choice. A woman in the situation of needing to run with a trainer is sort of at a disadvantage in any case. But I can usually handle most things with some humor and competence. Not really worried about that, and I do believe after being out of the industry for so long, having a mentor will be a distinct help. Any advice from others who have had the experiences?? -
You can refuse a male mentor. You may have to wait a bit for a female but they'll get you one. I refused to go out with anyone other than my husband. I know several female mentors and they request only other females.
-
Can I request a female mentor???!!! That would be sweet!
In all seriousness, I have found females are more patient and instruct better than most men. -
You can ask but I think you'll be told no. lol But hey.........nothing ventured nothing gained. -
So how long after school do you go til you go out with your mentor?
