I just want to introduce myself...
I live in PA and work in an office all day and drive rollback part time. I have been around trucks all my life...my parents were truckers for Mayflower Moving Comapny and my dad recently retired as a Shop Foreman. I have wanted to get into trucking for a while but couldn't because of the wife at the time. Now I am going through a divorce and feel it's time to do what I have wanted to. I will be doing research and looking to switch careers in the next few months. Thanks in advance for all the informative posts here!

Hi, BigDeal01, Welcome to our Truckers Forum! We hope you enjoy your stay and please read our RULES. We hope to help you and get to know you soon! Thanks, BigDeal01!
BigDeal01, do you have a question about how to do something? Try our FAQ section or you can PM me or a Moderator (50 posts not required to PM a Mod) to ask a question! Also, you can read through our Truckers Forum Information Center! -
Welcome to The Truckers' Forum! I'm a wannabe myself and have found this forum to be an excellent source of information and advice. I've asked some real bonehead questions but I'll be ###### if these folks don't come through with responses anyway. I've learned to search old posts to see if my questions have already been answered first. If not, or if I'm not satisfied with the answers, I just post away!
You have opportunity, in your profile area, to ask truckers to be your "friend". Don't be bashful, ask 'em! I haven't been turned down yet. A good thing about having this circle of friends is that after you've got 50 posts in you can send them private messages to ask questions. You kinda have a captive audience that way and if you've picked your friends carefully, you'll get some excellent replies.
Good luck to you and get involved!

Thanks Oldnewbiegonnabe! I read a lot of posts so far and seen you in a few. Did you narrow down your search for a trucking company yet? There is a lot of very very useful information on here.

Thanks RACEFAN! Where at in North Carolina are you from? My one brother lives near Lexington, NC. How was your experience with Prime? Are you still with them? I am leaning towards taking their cdl class by the new year.

Hey BigDeal,
I've got 7 months before I start driving school at a jr college near my home. I'm planning on taking the bulk of that time reading posts about everything under the sun but I'll focus on those that have to do with companies (good and bad). I've got a kicka** bunch of friends in this forum. I've never in my life (unless it was when I was in the military) seen a group of people within an industry that absolutely give a #### about whether you make it or not. They want informed, well-trained, courteous, dedicated drivers out there with them on the road. Makes a lot of sense if you think about it.
Again, welcome and keep in touch!

BigDeal, How is the weather up in PA? It's flooding down in GA. I am an old newbie, changing careers once again. I start at Central Refer on 11/30 in the ATL. Due to the fact I really don't know #### about the trucking industry, I read a lot of these postings here to help me as I approach my new job. If I had any knowledge I'd recommend a company. I chose my path due to several personal reasons, and I'm happy so far. Of course it may turn into a nightmare quickly after I get to Conley (ATL). Can't be as bad a Nam was so truth be told I'm pretty excited, and I don't think any company can put me through as much #### as special forces training and the little brown guys did. Anyway, welcome to "Aunt Bea's Gossip Central" (actually I love this forum), and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Peace, Scott

BidDeal1, I am from Fayetteville/Southernpines area. Im about 1 1/2 hrs from Lexington nice place. I didnt go with prime I went to private school and got cdl then they told me I couldnt go with them. So I been driving for local o/o but have learned alot driving for them. Very hands on training with everything and one on one. They took time to explain everything and give me time to learn things driving school never touches. And there is alot they never touch. I am thankful for having them to teach me the ropes. Also got to use diffrent types of equipment with them which was a plus, flatbed, hopper bottom, and van. Have been in your area alot with them. Didnt like it to much there it was always cooooold.LOL. But anyway good to hear from you and wish you good luck with which ever avenue you pursue. Keep looking and talking to the guys in this forum and you will get alot of good information. Keep your head up and go for what you want and you will succed,GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!
