Windshield constantly freezeing over.

If you can’t keep your windshield thawed out, what do you think the roads are like ??

 

And in my case, it's not an option - I'm the lucky slob that gets to pull
the,(Oh, honey, look at the deer!) tourists out of the ditch - before
somebody clobbers them and knocks them all into next week.
Make hay when the sun shines - or in MY case, doesn't.

 

Try waxing the windshield it will stop the water siting there long enough to freeze.

 

It was already stated earlier why the defrost kicks on the A/C pump. But it's also worth mentioning that "air conditioner" doesn't mean "cold air". It means "conditioned air"

Try rolling your window down some. Sometimes bad weather driving sucks. It is what it is. Back when I was in the patch in Colorado, we would roll the windows down and turn off the heat. Freeze our butts off, but it kept snow from sticking to the windshield because it was the same temperature on both sides.

 

You guys got it all wrong. Don't put any heat up. It's only icing on the outside, because it's warm enough to melt it and then freeze. If it's cold it will just slide right off, no phase change happening.

 

I think he said it was 27F. That's a touch warm to get away with the cold windshield trick, but for sure when it's cold enough, keep the glass cold.

 

My Western Star 4900 was terrible. I bought 4 of those turbo fans from Flying J.

Mounted 2 in the cab corners blowing down on the side windows.

Mounted the other 2 above the rear view mirror blowing across across both sides of the windshield.

Wired them all up to a master plug.


Best thing I ever did or when it got super cold the windshield was freezing up as your feet were frozen also from running the defrost constantly.

 

Turn your defrost on high and crack the passenger window up or down to regulate your comfort zone for heat

 

A cold windshield works for snow. It doesn't work for freezing mist.

 

Youze guys freeze if you want to, but i have a digital thermometer in my cab that I had up as high as 82 degrees in that last storm.
No ice on that windshield!! (and I just don't like being cold!)

Stock defrosters and heater fans are minimally efficient at best.
I'm in and out putting hook chains on cars, and that drags moisture into the cab, you get thawed out, and water has to go somewhere.
You guessed it, mist on the inside of your windows; hate that, too.
Already had to squeege the inside to see out, so the extra heater is for that, too. Once I'm inside for about 20 minutes I cut it back.

While I'm on a rant, I'm always out getting my hands in the slush and snow, doing what I do. You just can't help getting gloves soaked.
