Here's a circus load with tons of clowns. A simple loading of a cracked slag pot takes 6 hours to load. I got to the mill at 2 and put on the oversize signs at 830. Spent the night at the mill. Got up this morning to 4ish fresh inches of snow. Managed to get the truck weighed. (That was another circus) Pot is supposed to weigh 94ish thousand pounds. Well it's actually 128,000. Needless to say, I'll be back in the mill Monday to have this pot swapped out.

 

That's about right. I always thought I was slow but, I guess I was right where I was supposed to be with time leading.

 

A grand a week, net...? Sure, If you do the cheap loads. There isn't any reason you should not be able to clear 2Gs, if you have your poop in a group. And, the bigger "better" money comes from experience. You don't get into this job because of money, enjoyment of the job, and because you are better than skateboard or door swinging work.
Sure you can go out and buy a lowboy, good luck figuring out what it actually costs in the long run.

 

I do and don't agree. I'm a "farthest left lane possible guy" when cruising through a metro area. Think about it, in the right most lane, you are constantly having to slow for on coming and freeway exiters. In the left, you just gotta be mindful of the HOV lane and/or median barriers. And you aren't really holding traffic up.

 

Just the machine body? An 8'6" trailer would be a better platform than a beam I would think. Should be what 120K without any of the fall off?

 

I didn’t go after it. It would have been better to load on a beam - and it was a shady broker - so depending on what they stripped off it ... it could have been 100k or 135k
