Good morning, new to the forum and would like to introduce myself. I worked for Chalmers for 11 years. We started our business in 2009 offering parts for all Chalmers. If you have any questions about the suspension please post and I will respond. Don't worry you don't have to buy anything.
    Thanks, Bruce Ealick

Chalmers is designed for vehicles that will need maximum suspension travel. The travel is limited by the axle stops installed by the truck maker. Typically this is about 12 to 13 inches at the wheel. Trade off is that it has a rougher ride especially when unloaded. The Neway suspensions have the most travel for an air suspension, typically about 6 to 7 inches. An example would be a dump truck that is hauling asphalt and seldom goes off road but needs more travel than an over the road air ride. Neway would work well. If the dump is going off road to deliver or spread rock at a construction site Chalmers would be better because the more travel would make it harder to become stuck. Not sure but last I checked the Neway are both heavier than the Chalmers if that is a consideration. Hope this helps.

Hello, we have a fleet of about 20 mixer trucks and about half of them have the chalmers suspension and the others have the haulmax suspension. About 5 of the trucks with the chalmers have a problem swaying side to side a little. Mainly happens when it it loaded and traveling at higher speeds like on the freeway. Would like to know if you ever heard of this happening? All of the haulmax suspension trucks drive pretty straight and dont sway/wonder on the roads so im guessing it has something to do with the chalmers?

Good afternoon, Chalmers uses a restrictor can that fits over the large rubber spring positioned in the middle of the walking beam. There are two versions of this can, standard (part number 373028) and high stability ( part number 373029). I have attached the part drawings for both below. Only the high stability can should be used on mixers. It fits much closer to the rubber spring and cuts the side to side sway. Please check and make sure that you have the high stability restrictor cans on your trucks. The restrictor cans wear out from the top, you will be able to see cracks on the side of the cans. Usually this will happen when the cans are about 4 or 5 years old. Typically the large rubber spring will wear out after 10 to 12 years and need to be replaced. The spring will lose its ability to cushion the load as it wears and swells at the bottom. This may also cause sway although the wrong can or one with cracks is usually the culprit. If you would like please send a picture to my phone and we can discuss.
    Thanks,

Yes we do, as well as all other parts for Chalmers. Cans are $125. each, rubber springs are $350. each. These will fit all Chalmers from 40,000 capacity thru 52,000 capacity. There is a spring plate that fits under the spring and attaches to the beam with two 3/8" X 2" inch bolts. After raising and supporting the truck until the tires are off the ground the two bolts will have to be removed. Then all three pieces can be slid off the beam. Be careful and hold the plate, it weighs about fifteen pounds and will do serious damage to your foot! If the plate is rusted I will need the part number off the beam to supply the correct part. Beam part number is on a metal tag that is 1/2" wide and 2" long. It will be on the top of the beam between the spring and the area of the beam that sits on the axle. Plates are $95. each.I have added a picture of a new spring with the high stability can on it and the standard can on top. If you forward your zip code and quantity of what you need I will be happy to give you a total price including freight. We ship via FedEx ground and supply the tracking number. Hope this helps.
