solid ice 4+ inches thick 29 degrees ambient raining freezing mist across open air overpasses and bridge with no salt no sand no friction no chance to where the road crown itself is enough grade to just dump your whole 80k in a ditch if you even touch the brake because the tandems start to change lanes without your permission and gravity just takes over the rest of the way unless you can hit something fixed en route to the gravebzinger, Final Drive and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

Maybe texas dot should get the hint and learn how to take care of their roads.... Its always the southern states this happens to....bzinger and Final Drive Thank this.

The weather channel just showed a picture of some 4 lane road 1/2 in Arkansas and 1/2 in Texas........
Arkansas 1/2 was just wet and down to pavement, Texas side was untouched with 6” of snow on it........
They blamed Texas for not havt enough snow removal equipment. A decision the state has made for financial reasons.
Texas like to run their mouth a lot so seems like they got this one coming..........JolliRoger, bzinger, gentleroger and 1 other person Thank this. -
The cost of having some snow removal equipment is not that prohibitive either. Get the plows and saltshaker units and buy the dumps set up to be able to hook up and run with them. That's what they do here.
We have 15" of snow on the ground here but by tomorrow at the latest, maybe even this afternoon, I'll be able to drive 10 miles into town in either one of my cars. I know people who live on the Tx side of Texarkana that will just have to wait for the big meltdown to go anywhere.bzinger, Cat sdp and Final Drive Thank this. -
OP
Check your weather radar got another storm passing through that area...
Stay safe out there... -
Appears all the CA people moving to Texas, bringing their politics, forcing wind farms etc due to "climate change" bs are learning a hard lesson about energy use and generation.
Won't change the idiots in DC from pushing their agenda, and forcing this kind of crap on all of us.Midwest Trucker, bzinger, Speed_Drums and 1 other person Thank this. -
I've laughed at the posts too. Sitting here in Texas. Of course Texas wasn't prepared. Just like Ohio wouldn't be prepared for a hurricane. It's a multifactorial problem, but rarity of events must play a factor in any rational preparation plans/funding.
We'll all laugh about this in a couple of weeks.
Except the thousands (mostly elderly and chronically ill) who have sat in their houses and died because of hypothermia over the last few days. Oh, and of course, their families.bzinger Thanks this.
