Hi Cowpie, I have read a lot of your posts but instead of replying to a few older threads, I will just start a new one.
1. You have the newer 14X Meritor with 2.64 ratio and talked about the amboid gearing. I assume that you don't have diff locks, or do you?
I can't find any info on amboid vs the hypoid gearing that I have, so please explain the advantages of amboid gearing.
I have older Rockwell 40-145, full locks and 3.90. Engine is a Series 60 DDEC 6 getting 5 mpg. The diffs have 920,000 miles on them and I haul triaxles in Canada. Loads are usually 60,000 lbs plus. 13 speed auto.
I am thinking about rebuilding my diffs and changing the ratio to 3.36 so that when I'm in Quebec and Ontario, I can run in 12th instead of 13th.
The 3.36 ratio for my axles are amboid and I'd like to know the difference.
Secondly, you have a 12.7 Series 60, haulomg heavy through hills and get 8 mpg in the summer.
Is all you have done to the engine is install a BW 171702 and tune and changed the axle ratio to 2.64?
Thank you for your answerz

Late 50’s seemed like he was in fairly good health. I think he ignored some warning signs, and by the time it was diagnosed he died a few months later.blairandgretchen, Vampire, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 8 others Thank this.
