Woke up this morning with a really bad feeling that something was wrong. Got up and saw there was a message on the answering machine. It was hubby at 4 am telling me to call him. OK, this is a little weird bc he knows I am never up that early so I call him back.

"Well about 2 this morning I was run over at the truck stop"

My heart stops, seriously. Come to find out, a USA truck hit his truck. Hubby is ok, thank god, he was in the sleeper. He said cops and fire department was there but no tickets issued bc it was on private property. He was at the Pilot on I85 exit 129 (I think).

Hubby said that it had messed the front of the truck up pretty bad and put holes in the gas tank. Had to get someone out to empty the fuel tank and bypass that tank. He was suppose to load around Atlanta this morning and head home for the weekend. Now he is having to go to the shop, may have to go get him which isn't but 1 1/2 hours away.

One good thing about it is, the USA driver said he would sign saying it was his fault. After he told the company that, he was fired over the phone. I feel bad for the driver but glad he did do the right thing and soo glad Hubby is ok.

If I have to go pick hubby up, Ill try to get pics of the truck for yall.

** Have a good and safe day!!!!!!!

Glad everyone is OK, not a great way for things to go but metal can be fixed a whole lot easier (maybe not cheaper) than a hubby can.

Yes that is a very scarey call. My husband did that a few years ago. He was delivering at a warehouse. He was backed up to the dock and a switcher pulled a trailer out, but he didn't pull straight out, so the trailer took out the front of my husbands truck. My husband and a couple of other drivers started blowing the horn and the guy just kept going. He was only an hour away. But since he was not hurt I made him sit and wait until I could deliver the kids to their places they had to be. Plus we needed the entire vehicle to put all of his stuff in. He had to clean his truck out, because they were taking it back to Ohio and would bring him another truck in a few days.

I am just glad it is a company truck and this repair wont come out of our pocket.

And the funny thing about it is, dispatch (a total b*t*h) told him to go and load. Hmmmmm, wonder what will be going through their mind when he pulls up with the whole front end messed up. That has got to make the company look bad. Would make me doubt they could safely transport their load. LOL

Many in dispatch have a 1 track mind, they never even ask if the truck can be driven. Cover that load, driver.:biggrin_25510:

This guy's wife got the call too. He spent a couple hrs in the ER getting checked out and then went home.
I drove that truck a week before this happened.

    Glad your hubby is okay.

Funny thing, they won't write a ticket because it's "private property", but just try and tell them that when they ask to see your logbook. :biggrin_2552:

That made my stomach drop when I saw those pics. If that would have been hubby's call this morning, I might would have fell to pieces.
