I called PTL the other day and they said they are not taking any students. The only people they are looking at are those with 12 months experience in the last 3 years.
This also proves how messed up CRST's refresher is because to get in it they require 12 months exp. in the last 3 years. A person could just get their own truck and hired at PTL![]()
No more students

You should be thankful they're not hiring...probably saved you a lot of headaches, lol
If the only ppl they're looking at is experienced i'd say they're window shopping. I don't think they can afford experience. -
You don't want to go there as a student anyways. About 50% of the time they just take 2 students and put them in a truck together to train each other which is just the blind leading the blind. They also are not buying any new equipment anymore and just look at the trucks and they are usually beat to hell with crunched fairings and all.
poohbear3636 Thanks this. -
Because they are so cheap they dont want to pay for experience

I'm a 20 year vet, with PTL only for about 3 months. Find a company with a good pay package - about .30 -32/ml, benefits after 6 months, safety incentive, and the home time that you're looking for. They are there. Get your experience so you don't lose your CDL's, and never settle until you feel that you have found a home.
You won't see brass plaques anywhere with names and years of service, or awards - just a handfull of people hanging out at the North Lot waiting for a truck every week. Check out the turn-around. I guarantee you it's high.
I was on my way home from Brownsville, TX - but I had to switch loads in St Louis and go to Gary, IN. That driver was in deep, and demanded to return to the yard. Go figure - - Do you think that you're going to last?? FIND ANOTHER COMPANY. -
If you've been out here 10 years - with all of the companies available in IN - why, for Pete's sake, are you thinking of PTL???
I'm a 21 year vet, and approaching retirement. I wouldn't be here if it were'nt for 2 tickets. Just trying to hang on for another month.
As far as the equipment, I run a 2008 International Eagle. You may not know, but they have recently just bought 100 2010 Freightliner XL's. You think that they're going to hand them out to a bunch of "newby's" that can't back in a hole on a football field?? I did my time, with JB Hunt, and several others. Find your home - but don't trash what you feel is inadequate (for you). It may not be for others. -
You're so right...All the way. The dog is cute!

i was thinking of going there but now i think not.how do i post on the site?
