QUESTION ABOUT E - LOGS
What are my options for going back and forth between E-logs and Short haul exception depending on what I'm doing that month?
Simple as that.... turn E-logs off and run short haul when around town and when I go OTR ( after 7 days ) turn E-logs on?

Well I currently use Keep Trucking when going OTR but I don't have the plug in - I just use the APP ( and 90% of the time keep it under the 7 day rule )
I like Keep Trucking for the fact ( without the truck plug in ) you can "edit" the logs and it doesn't keep the history.God prefers Diesels Thanks this. -
How do you go OTR without being plugged into the ECM? I mean we did that in the oilfield, but we also didn't really care about DOT rules, lol. I thought you had to connect to the ECM to be compliant?

If you only run 7 days a month you don't need to plug in. I always plan my OTR days at the end of a month....
EG. last 7 days in Feb, first 7 days in March gives me 14 days OTR under short haul exemption.
It's really just playing the system.God prefers Diesels Thanks this. -

From my understanding, the exception you’re using is no more than 8 days in a 30 day cycle.ZVar, Swine hauler and God prefers Diesels Thank this.

I might be wrong on this one, but i think with short haul exemption it's in "any 30 day period" which if correct would mean you run illegal. You should check on it. I will as well when i have more time and let you know
