that's how we book em. Look at the rate for the round. If it doesn't make sense coming back empty we won't book it, even tho most times we have a load getting us through the house.
Made the jump and booked my 1st load

Looks like he had an 11000 dollar week using this method .
I like the fact that he shows his numbers and it seems like we can trust him to not cook the books to make himself look better.S.V.Buyck Thanks this. -
Exactly! I don’t care what he spends monthly he is definitely bringing in some dough right now. I went all the way back to when he started his journey, he paid his dues, he had some maintenance issues but he got through them. My biggest worry with getting my own truck is a major engine problem within the first six months. Anything else I can handle, but if I make it 4 to 6 months without a major engine problem I will have new motor money put up by thenThe Crossword Trucker Thanks this.

Nice Avatar. Have you read or watched the free to choose series? The Crossword Trucker Thanks this.

I grew up watching that stuff when I was a kid. I was allowed 2 hrs a week of network TV and 8 hrs a week of PBS.
Watched a lot of
MotorWeek
Cosmos
Firing line with William F.
Connections with James Burke
and best of all ,Free to Choose with Milton Friedman
PBS was awesome back then
Yes I was a weird kid. -
Not weird at all. A public school teacher would probably be fired/burned at the stake for showing free to choose nowadays. Aside from the keynesian and marxist bs, Free to choose was my first real introduction to liberty minded economics. I found myself disagreeing with Friedman regarding monetary policy and studied a lot more of economic history which IMO wasn't on his side regarding targeted inflation and the fed among other things. The Austrians got it right regarding monetary theory and the business cycle. The Crossword Trucker Thanks this.

I felt he was right for his time, as far as inflation goes, that stuff turns out to be far more complex than anyone realized.
By all accounts we should have been seeing a lot more inflation in the last ten years than we have. I have a feeling its like an ice jam upstream and its about come ripping down on us in a great flood.
I hope am I wrong about that.Vampire Thanks this. -
The 1 thing I notice he tends to fudge on is not including deadhead miles into his rates he shows. The other day he titled his video $1000 on 150 miles or something like that, but he deadheaded from 450+ miles to grab the 150mile load so in my eyes that's $1000 on 600ish miles but he never includes his deadhead into his rates he shows. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with deadheading to grab a load but idc if you get 10mpg or not you've still got to account for those deadhead miles into your what your $$ was on that load.Brettj3876, Dino soar and The Crossword Trucker Thank this.

Asking due to my ignorance but does all that really matter? He said he net 10k and that is the purpose of doing business I thought. To make much as much as you can for your family. No matter how you achieve a goal I don’t think it matters or am I wrong
-
It matters when he's got guys watching his videos that are considering getting their own trucks. They see "omg $1000 on 150 miles thays crazy $$" when in reality it was less than $2 a mile. It's misleading so if he's misleading about that how much of his other #s is he misleading to make himself look better, to gain more subscribers? Just be honest there's no reason to fudge your #s if your putting it all out there.Ruthless, Brettj3876, 86scotty and 3 others Thank this.
