Neither have I. But according to the OP, they told him they did. If they had, they’d have noticed the check engine light and could’ve saved him a lot of hassle. They flat out lied. I’d be pretty pissed as well.
Odometer doesn’t lie, will they take care of the extra charges?

i agree $1,200 is steep for a tow, but we don’t know for sure the milage of the tow or if both units had to be towed. Having that trailer drug along with you is expensive.YoungBloodTrucker Thanks this. -
Thank you all for you honest opinions wether I agreed or disagree.
The shop stated drive check was done to see if the motor operates smoothly as well as jakes
After adjustment was performed mind you this is a major shop (if your in a hurry, your in a ????)
truck is 2018 Pete 389 less than 160k miles i expect this type of work but a tow and a week down could have been avoided especially when they said the did something they didn’t do also... never been shutdown for the small amber light which was the light I mention on Op thanks again everyone who repliedGreenPete359 Thanks this. -
Wires get crossed between service writer/manager and the mechanic all the time. Mechanic probably just grabbed a couple gears in the yard and blasted the jakes, all that's really needed. I've had my stories changed by the manager more than once at a couple places in the past. Why I keep my own records these days.

Tractor and trailer, empty and was charged by the hour plus taxes & convenience fee. Not a question of not trusting the shop do I feel as though the did the adjustment sure, but why lie about something I did not mention nor request ?? And mishap if I’m close enough why not take it to the last shop that touched it ?? I agree with Pete drivers do look at mechanics to pay somethings but if a mechanic miss something that could’ve been prevented I’m expecting the mechanic to help out in someway

But there is another issue, expecting a check engine light to go out, not saying the op is dumb but I’ve had drivers who ignored them until the truck stopped, thinking that they will go out. There was one that happened near Indianapolis during Friday afternoon rush and that tow was not cheap. I was really pissed off not because he put tape over the check engine like because I was stuck in traffic a mile behind it, just coming from a new customer that very truck/driver would have been assigned to. I had the owner of the company with me to show him my operation and I really talked well about the driver.slow.rider Thanks this. -

The more I read about electronic problems the more I think about changing my n-14 over to a mechanical?
Cummings doesn't even offer a ECM anymore. You are limited to the few companies that can repair yours if you send it off.
From what I have read the n-14 injectors can be hit or miss also.
Dealing with boats in saltwater the last 37 years , 50% of the time the problems are electrical related.LoneRanger Thanks this. -
Listen, I get it. A test drive isn’t necessary after a valve set. Run it in the shop. Blast the jakes in the yard. Ohhhh but wait......I’ve been through this. Had complete rocker arm assembly replaced on a Detroit. Lash was set too tight on buttons for injectors. Guess what, no test drive. Good to go. Within 15 miles three injectors broken in half. Literally. Is the mechanic a moron? No. We’re all human and we all make mistakes. A test drive they would’ve found it themselves.
So if a shop tells me they test drove my truck after ANY repair, and I know without doubt they haven’t, I’ll call them on it every time. I’m the guy paying the bill. Don’t freakin lie to me. -
