OH YEAH........When delivering in Long Island, MAKE SURE you have plenty of fuel.....(ahem) Truck Stops???...Where? Many Companies will NOT allow you to stop at ones you can find(name brand or NOT, they WILLNOT pay the high NY fuel prices)......Not in their Fuel Authorization Dispatched Network(fancy name for "Your screwed dummy, shoulda trip planned better).:biggrin_2556:

So, I've got a good one.
yesterday I'm hauling compost in my tandem dump truck (max allowed in Colorado: 54,000, steers + tandems) and I'm certainly over 50,000 but not overweight.

and I'm going to drop it off at this guy's farm/house/whatever

His directions say "pull in off the road, follow the road straight north over the bridge"

    hmmmmmmmmmmm

I pull in, I pull up the little hill straight north and find the bridge. The bridge is over an irrigation ditch.

it's made out of wood. :biggrin_2555:

I stop (just imagining what it's going to cost for a wrecker to get this out)The guy comes out.

    We talk about the bridge.
"oh, we've had those tree trimming trucks over here. (of course, those are single axles, max of 33k and wood chips weigh a lot less than compost) but I guess I didn't realize how big your truck was".
    We look further.

The wood (which does look solid) is basically just sitting on some stacked flagstone rocks. :biggrin_2555:

    Uhhh, no,
So where else would you like me to put this load cuz I"m not going over that bridge.

On the flip side some drivers are scared of anything. I am FAR from being an expert driver but at my place I live on 25 acres and I drive and park my sleeper truck with 53' spread in there no problem. There is room to turn around and drive out with zero backing whatsoever. I do it multiple times a week.

I have had local guys with day cab 28' pup trailers show up and refuse to go in because they don't think they can make it. I haven't had it happen when the truck and trailer was sitting there yet but next time it does I am going to point at it and laugh.
