Seems like I`ve been driving in the rain for about a month solid. My wipers and my eyes are shot. Can`t keep my truck anywhere near clean, but I`m still thankful for the rain.
I notice that alot of the trucks I catch up to become extremely difficult to pass once I get into their "roadspray".They are easy enough to catch with my cruise set at 68,but in order to actually pass them I mash the gas and then wait until they tire of the game and I go by.After I am in front of them, slowed back to cruise(again68),they drop back very quickly!!
Must be a new game,is the idea to make me eat as much roadspray as possible,or to keep me from "spraying" you??OR... am I supposed to slow down and try to keep you in my "roadspray" for the next 30 miles after I pass?
Somebody fill me in on the rules so I can play, too.I have enough horsepower and roadspeed to do well at this game so if it takes me 5 minutes to get around you how long should I spray you before I move on?
They`ll do it every time

You need to locate the Passing Magnet switch and turn it off!
Working Class Patriot Thanks this. -
Do you think he's confusing blurs from tears with road spray ? Does anybody else really have this problem ?
If he has so much HP what's the problem ? -
No it happens.
You pass a guy and he's set at 65 and when you get next to them they actually do speed up and sit next to you!
I've had my fast trucks and especially my last one and I swear I kept looking for the switch to turn off the magnet that grabbed the guy I was passing! ROFLMAO! -
I know that happens . It's a real problem in OH since they raised the speed limit to where many trucks are governed (Thank you Ontario and Quebec ) . A driver will be on the cell phone doing 60-62 m.p.h. until he looks in the mirror and sees another 65 m.p.h. truck starting to pass .
The problem I was asking about was road spray . -
I know. Heck if you have the horses then if he starts the game, pass him, get 1 length ahead and stay there! You win because you're in front and you're cleaning his windshield!
Actually, I never understood why these drivers do it either. It's some kind of quantum physics test or something! Just like when they pass you taking your paint off and pull over, then the next thing you know is you're up in the trailer doors standing on your brakes and when you swing over to pass him he's got the stupid cell phone stuffed in his ear, and you just know that in a couple of minutes he's going to pass you again when the call is over!
Now the stupid thing about that is, If he was on the CB talking he never would have slowed down!
I think I figured out what happens.
When talking on the CB your elbow is in a certain position BUT when most men put a cell phone up to their ear the difference in the bend of the elbow cuts off all normal thought processes in the brain and causes the foot to hit the brakes, the use of the most rudimentary controls in the truck become unusable such as blinkers, cruise control and mirrors! Why a man can use all of the controls while talking on the CB and drive like his brain is still functioning is because of that difference in the bend in the elbow! It just cuts off everything when you put your hand up to your ear!
Women do not have this problem as they've overcome things like that from the practice of putting makeup on while using the rear view mirror and changing diapers, reading a love story and other such nonsense while driving and remember women can carry on 2 conservations at a time anyway!
Now this was written as a joke! It's one I do on the CB all the time and it actually really does pissoff the driver I'm talking about! Man they get so defensive when you point out that they can't drive and talk at the same time! But we see it all the time! Diving in the truck stops with the cell stuffed in their ear then trying to back up! It cracks me up especially when the moron took my hood off! THEN tried to say I pulled into him! That's another story in it's self!
Good Luck
Rolloverbig wheels and JustSonny Thank this. -
Oh yeah, i know what the OP is talking about. Throw in the driver getting passed looks back and sees s/he is getting passed by a company who they have been brainwashed to hate.
What gets me, is just how unprofessional and unsafe the 'speedup' is. Driver getting passed gets all butt-hurt because of their big ego, and their tiny.... u know, so they've gotta save face with anything they have left to hold onto. anymore, what i do, is after i get even with their truck and still have a little roll on them, i turn on my signal to come back over. this makes those behind me know i'm wanting to get back over, and the other driver a little scared and maybe he backs off a little seeing how i'm a swift driver, and i might not have gone thru the class to get signed off on using my side mirrors. =) Not to mention i'll start to ride on the inside part of the lane a little more.
Others who get all upset about being passed, you can look like an idiot driving like a brat still in grade school. But i'll always drive professionally. -
Thanx everybody. At least I`m not the only one who sees this.Makes my life simpler when I catch and pass without having it turn into a competition.
Know what you mean about the cell phone.lol
Love having horsepower, don`t like killing my fuel mileage having to use it. -
But they feel better if they are headed north on I-75 in OH and get to hammer down with their head held high in MI passing all the drivers running the 60 m.p.h. limit .
