if a driver has the legal right to put your truck out of service do you think he should have a basic understanding of what he's looking at? no different than bringing your truck to the dealer to get serviced, I bet your the first guy to say "put the best guy on it" think about it..

I read exactly what you wrote. He was ticketed for a inoperable turn signal and a defective ABS lamp. Where they operating correctly or not? They are not the same bulb.D.Tibbitt, magoo68, Wasted Thyme and 2 others Thank this.

You do understand that they are trained to inspect CMV’s. Some even have cdl’s and drive part time.Wasted Thyme and sealevel Thank this.

I'm not a huge fan of DOT but I realize they have a job to do. This is the kind of thing that happens when you have cardboard taped on your door with your new company name in sharpie on it. The op is worried about lights, while driving a rental truck with IFTA issues.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
You want an ASE certification to figure out if a lightbulb is out?
D.Tibbitt, Wasted Thyme and Dave1837 Thank this. -
The ABS light when the power cord is connected to the trailer when you turn the ignition on that light should come on for a few seconds and go off. That indicates that the ABS is getting power and it's working correctly.
The turn signal your driver should have seen that and the ABS light also that should be part of your pre-trip.
Ifta stickers are due at the new year but you can run on your old ones until the end of February. I don't know how that works with a rental but you need to have your new stickers on and carry a copy of your license, your ifta license with you.Wasted Thyme and Proxy Thank this. -
A lot of speculation going in here, if your idea of being helpful is posting condescending comments why even bother? lol

yup, exactly what i said....move along little one....

some of you clearly got your panties in a bunch,
Thanks for actually putting thought into your response, much appreciated. The driver was canned that day because there is not excuses missing that on pre trip, and just so happens to have an attitude and acts like an elitist much like the some of the trolls in this forum. The IFTA through me off because its pretty common to get random inspections in this area and I've never had issues with Penske or any other rental truck in the past, some of which they do their own ifta and some we have to do it. Must have just been lucky in the past, and I'm sure the driver was being a prick which never helps. -
Typical. Now you are throwing the driver under the bus after questioning if DOT knows what they are doing. Problem is you don't know. I'm not looking for a argument. I just think you are all over the place and the true definition of who to not work for. Could be wrong. Just a opinion. I really don't care either way.D.Tibbitt, magoo68, Roberts450 and 3 others Thank this.
