Big gap in updates because I didn't make it haha. Running the ramp and the pace of work was not for me.
Thankfully they have other options that don't involve touch freight. I did their otr Dairy deliveries for a while delivering shamrock farms products to distributors and then picking up a backhaul for Phoenix.
Now I am doing a dedicated run on the foods side. Leave out Monday night and deliver to shamrock foods in Albuquerque Tuesday morning, then go get a tyson backhaul out of Amarillo. Make it back Thursday morning and leave Thursday night to Shamrock Eastvale, CA, get a back haul out of somewhere in the Los Angeles area and be back early Saturday.
Perfect schedule for me so I can spend time with the people I care about. Shamrock Foods is a great company. I am glad to work for them

Apparently he washed out. Got scared of the ramp work. If you are under 30, you are a perfect candidate for food service. You can easily earn 70-80 grand your first year. CAVEAT......YOU WILL WORK LONG HOURS, usually overnight, and it will eat your lunch. Get a bit of seniority, bid on a good route, by year 3 you will be pushing 100K. Question is.........how bad do you want it.
Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this. -
I know he doesn't do that. Job but he said he went otr/dedicated. Want to know how it isjmz Thanks this.

All of the Megas have dedicated accounts, they are big enough to service big corporate accounts. Target, Home Depot, Walmart, Kroger, HEB, the list goes on. Most of them pay pretty well too. You will need to have some experience to get on a lot of those accounts. Figure out which of those carriers service the DC's in your area. There is a pretty hefty turnover in those jobs. Shouldn't be too hard to land one.

Hello are you still with shamrock foods?
