I don’t do a lot of TQL loads, had somthing similar happen once where they tried to change the pick up location from Nebraska to Ft Colins, CO. I told them no! They said ok we will look for another driver, I said good luck & don’t forget to send me a TONU because we already signed rate con. The sent me $150 and I picked up for another broker later that day.
But in all TQL been fair, I just hauled an OK city to North Pratt NE for $1800, that’s over $4.00 a mile. They allways pay me what they owe me in a timely manner so no issues with them -
Once you submit your paperwork to TQL they pay fast. I don't think anyone has questioned that. They may mess around on detention or layovers but that's small compared to the run.
Why have you gotten yourself in to a position to where you need the latest run to be paid so you can make a car payment? Sounds like you are in no way set up to succeed in this business. You need months of 'living' money, or your personal/family budget set to the side before you get in to this risky business. 6 months is a good start.
What are you planning to do when your truck goes down?God prefers Diesels, itaff and p608 Thank this. -
That was my thought as well. But then I saw another one of his posts, and I think he's not trying to make a car payment. I think he's waiting on payment for hauling a car.86scotty Thanks this.

I hate TQL loads... And I'm just a company door slammer. Every single time I get one (which luckily is VERY rare) it ends up being a PITA. But if I do get one, its one of those times that I have told dispatch "Just find me anything going home." You know like when I'm trying to make it home for Christmas, or my kids Birthday something like that. So I just grit my teeth and bear it... Desperate times call for desperate measures.

They’re horrible. Had a similar experience. Don’t haul their garbage. We sure don’t anymore.

I wish I would have seen this post quicker but I have been so busy...
I’m not sure what I said that gave you the impression that I am not prepared for this business other than my astonishment over the business practices associated with paying carriers
. Your assessment comes on kind of strong with a harsh assessment telling someone that is concerned over not getting paid over services rendered. Who thinks that’s just part of doing business? It may be part of doing business for dirt bags especially if they hired you under false pretenses.
fortunately I am well prepared financially or I would not have started this venture but that doesn’t mean I just taking not getting paid lightly because that’s “how business goes”.
Ultimately we did get paid from this guy. I won’t run for him again though. If he would have called me and said, I know I told you, and I know the agreement you signed said I would pay you in two days via Venmo, but I ran into some trouble and I will pay you in two weeks, that’s one thing, but that’s not what happened.
On the positive side, we got paid. I’m not sure what to take from your post as initially I felt you were scolding me for not having enough money to absorb the cost of people not paying for my service. As far as what I would do if I run into maintenance costs, I would do the same thing I would do if I did not have this business. I would hire someone to make the repairs, and pay them when the service is rendered. Isn’t that what most people do?JetFuel17 Thanks this. -
It sounded like that because of the way you worded your previous post. It made it look like you needed car payment money. I had typed up the same response, but deleted it when I saw one of your posts in another thread. Context is important. You don't start out in this business, and then post something like this:
and expect not to raise a few eyebrows at how you just maaaay be in the wrong business. Context would have been changed completely if you'd said:SoulScream84, GoneButNotForgotten, JimmyTwoTimes and 3 others Thank this. -
Yep ^^^^ Thanks GpD.
God prefers Diesels Thanks this. -
Interesting, the thread was “I thought” about companies that don’t pay... but since I am retired from a communications based career, I guess I could imagine how someone could read that I was talking about my first car payment. A real stretch in my mind but this just goes to show you never know how people view things. I would agree however if I would have referenced “ load” someone would have understood that the car was the load instead of thinking I was talking about making car payments. I try to move mostly freight but sometimes take cars to save me dead head miles.SoulScream84, 86scotty and God prefers Diesels Thank this.
