No, that tire has been obviously been below 4?32' for the past 5-10,000 miles. Easily. Not something shredding it. It was pure neglect on the driver's part. He's obviously never does Pre/Post inspections. How many drivers don't either ?
LOOK AT THIS STEER TIRE !!! LESS THAN 2/32" !!

In case some of you don't realize, I'm surprised this thread hasn't gotten cancelled. It's not Facebook, and in typical FB fashion, we don't know the real truth, and everybody has to speculate what happened. To say this must be an O/O is pure baloney. O/O's, including myself, knew our trucks inside and out, and would never run a tire like that. It was OUR reputation that was on the line, big difference from a company driver. There was an old saying about factory workers, that could apply anywhere. Employee one, ( company driver) when their shift ended, they would leave the machine with a part still unfinished, where as a good employee( O/O) finishes the piece they were working on.
JolliRoger, Shawn2130, John E Walker and 1 other person Thank this. -
I agree anymore it could be counter-productive to your personal safety to confront other drivers with these situations, but I'd do it anyway. The approach to the issue can do lots to quell any outbursts. I would have said something to this driver as well, but wouldn't have taken any photos.Tb0n3 and SilverBulletBand Thank this.

Well Sir, you are one of the rare people these days that actually still has any integrity and gives a #### about your safety and the safety of OTHERS.
I talked personally with the driver and he very obviously did NOT give a #### about his safety OR the safety of US.... the Public ! Why do you think I jumped on his ### like that ?
The side of the truck says.... "Service Disabled Veterans Owned" Small Business.
Playing Devil's Advocate here. As a Retired Military (Served 20 Years) myself and also have Service Connected Disabilities. I too find it nearly impossible that a Service Connected Veteran with Disabilities would ignore and ALLOW a DANGEROUS tire like this to go on like this !! WHY ? Because OUR (VETERANS) REPUTATION is on the line as well and most ALL (certainly not ALL Veterans) I have ever met (worked 15 YEARS in a VA Hospital Medical Laboratory) HAVE INTEGRITY. I have met and talked with 10's of thousands of Veterans in my lifetime.
Now, back to you. YOU tell us WHY you believe this driver allowed this dangerous situation to go on like this ?
Was he an O/O, (Lease tractor to the company) OR was this actually a Company truck and the company clearly does not give a ***** about the safety of their equipment AND OUR (Public's) Safety ?
IF this was in fact a company owned truck, how in the hell would this tire go UNNOTICED for so long ?
BTW Happily Retired... I Retired TWICE already. Retired after Serving 20 Years with USAF, Retired after 15 Years with the VA. Now going for Retirement number 3 driving truck ! I too want ALL my brothers and sisters to be SAFE and get to live until THEY can Retire as well. ;>)Last edited: Mar 25, 2021

That condition of the tire is caused by the front end being out of alignment it can cause that in a thousand miles two thousand Mile to Thousand Miles, but it doesn't take very long and it's corrected by aligning the front end ,
SilverBulletBand and Snailexpress Thank this. -
2,000 miles?? No way, might have went from not seeing any belt, to how it is now within 2k, but it should have been changed out well before that.SilverBulletBand Thanks this.

Honestly with your resume go be a DOT officer then. Why oh why oh why would you want to drive a old straight truck around with your credentials? Serious question. Go drive around in a brand new SUV spotting stuff like this and saving a life.SilverBulletBand and Matt1924 Thank this.
