This is for the guyz who asked me about the Acert engines.

Using Injector Trim Files
Engines with ACERT Technology
Injector Trim File
The injector trim file is an electronic file that contains information about the injector. The injector trim file allows the Electronic Control Module (ECM) to compensate for the variations between injectors.

The ECM on an ACERT engine must have the correct injector trim file for each injector that is installed on the engine. Otherwise, engine performance and emissions will be degraded.
Injector trim files must be programmed into the ECM for any of the following circumstances:
1 An injector is replaced.
2 Injectors are exchanged between cylinders.
3 The ECM is replaced.

Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET)
Injector trim files are loaded into the ECM with Cat ET. Cat ET also provides the following services in order to help manage injector trim files:
"Injector Exchange" - This service simplifies exchanging injector trim files between cylinders. To access this service, select the "Service" menu. Then select "Calibrations". Select "Injector Trim Calibration". Select two injectors and click the "Exchange" button.
"Copy Configuration" - This service is used during replacement of an ECM. All of the injector trim files are copied from the ECM. Then, all of the injector trim files can be quickly loaded into a replacement ECM.

Explanation of the Numbers on the Injector

(1) Example of a serial number
(2) Example of an injector confirmation code
(3) Example of a part number
Serial Number - The serial number can be up to 14 digits in length.
Injector Confirmation Code - The injector confirmation code is four digits. The injector confirmation code is only required for on-highway engines. Part Number - The part number is seven digits.

Loading an Injector Trim File into the ECM
1 Establish communication between Cat ET and the ECM.
2 Select the following menu options on Cat ET:
A “Service”
B “Calibrations”
C “Injector Trim Calibration”
3 Select the appropriate cylinder.
4 Click the "Change" button.
5 Select the appropriate injector trim file from the PC.
6 Click the "Open" button.
7 Click the "OK" button.
8 Repeat the procedure for each new injector, as required.

Hawkesbury southbound, 43 ton, towing water tanker.

It's a fair test as it is a longish pull with one pinch that is the slowest spot. On the speed limiter at the bottom.

So far with the Bully dog tune, it does 75kph on the GPS
575 deg C 17th gear.

My mate has a newish 470 Mack and drops to 42 kph pulling the same tank.
So it already has a bit of poke.

I'll keep you posted.

HOLY SNAPPIN DUCK SH#T!!!

It goes great!!

Just put the injectors that Far Call did for me in and went for a run around the block.

Only bob tail so it doesn't really show the full potential, but it goes real well to say the least.

The injectors and the bully dog tune together make it haul!!

Had to remove the fuel wire as it really struggles to idle with it on.

The only down side is that with no load at any speed above 1000rpm it sounds a bit like Cogas truck. Pops and bangs trying to hold steady engine speed with no load. This is an issue bob tail but I am hoping it will be better with a trailer on.

Does any one have a "fix "for this?

Or is it just the price you pay for a mighty quick truck?

Going for my first run tomorrow with the full package, will let you all know how it goes.

Tony

Unfortunately, My mate doesn't tow the water tank anymore and I was only helping him out when he was busy.

I'll never find out how it goes back to back :(

I'll get a fair idea tomorrow as I will be going up a hill i use frequently
