So Realistically,,,, where is trucking going? I have had my cdl now for 20 years. I have worked for the major carriers and myself. It seems that with self driving trucks and the government wanting to ban the use of diesel and gas trucks over the next several years and going to electric trucks, that alot of owner/operators who won't be able to afford these new electric trucks will be forced out of business. The reason I ask this question is I had a friend come to me yesterday about buying a new truck and I really didn't have a good answer for him. So I come to the ppl who make this country run and are out there busting their butts to make sure we have what we need!!!

Lastly, I just want to say thank you and God bless for what you do!!! Stay strong my friends and please know we appreciate everything you do!!!

Autonomous and electric trucks are coming but it’s not going to kill the industry. For insurance reasons no truck is going to be hauling freight down the interstate unattended. Flatbedders need to do mid trip load securement checks or replace a strap that suddenly brakes and is dragging, someone is going to be present with that vehicle.

As for electric, they’ve got to get the power supply issue figured out. The current grid wasn’t designed to power every truck in America.

There will be changes for sure. But completely autonomous? Doubt it will happen in anyone around here's lifetime.

Look I see self-driving trucks are going to impact maybe 20% of the industry. With the revolving door of employment most won’t notice their presence.

that said a lot of use fleet owners are very concern with the greening of the industry, this doesn’t mean banning trucks outright but to quickly put in place emission laws to remove pre-emission trucks off road with no compensation or means to use those trucks on any road in the country with no exceptions. The present epa engines will get updated and we will have a choice of a new truck or one a few years old, and that’s it.

This isn’t politics as usually, they are acting as if we have a year or two to live and forcing a lot of changes. While they are mentioning this subtly, and knowing there maybe a large political shift to the right in congress to offset our mentally ill presidents actions, time is short for them to act and they will act. The only question is how fast will they take for the regulations and laws to be written and passed or approved and how fast will they implement it.

I can see this starting to be debated by the end of the year with changes made after this time next year, this will take a lot of trucks out of the market, including gliders and with no compensation, it will be a blood bath.

If OTR trucks are going electric, I doubt itll be in any our times on the road. They would have to change the entire infrastructure to accommodate electric and autonomous trucks. Unless a truck can get a full charge in the same amount of time it takes to fuel, I don't see it happening no time soon. If anything, I can ltl or local gigs going all electric
