Yeah, sounds like the bosses a plug for the drivers to get better mileage. I drove a cabover Transtar, with a "shiny 290" and a 13 speed, and got better than 2. If that was the average, then he must have had trucks that got gpm,,![]()
What’s your MPG’s while loaded?

When you think about it we really haven't came that far since the late 80s/early 90s when the 1st 60 series came around with electronics. They were capable of 8 if you hauled fairly light
201 Thanks this. -
In cahoots with the oil companies, "but sir, we heard they have "Smart Diesels" that get 15 mpg",,,mmm-hmmm, keep an eye on it,,,Brettj3876 Thanks this.

Like that guy in the 80s who managed to build a car that runs on water. Big brother bought the patent and a few months later the guy was found dead.
When the 93 was just a stock 350 about 5.8-6.1 was the best it would do. After injectors and a bigger turbo it gained 1 mpg -
In 2003 I was getting 7mpg with a 93 mack ch613,with a 350 and a 9 speed, hauling farm machinery. Most loads were around 60-70k gross weight.
Then I jumped in a 2008 International 9200 with a C-13 and an auto shift. Pulling dry bulk tankers I was usually around 5.5 mpg.
This truck I have now is a Western Star 4900 glider. Has a 6nz cat, 10 speed. Pulling dry bulk tankers I'm doing between 6 and 6.5, depending on where I'm at.Brettj3876 Thanks this. -
correct !
I’ve gotten 3.2 mpg with some loads.
But we are not allowed to take photos of the cargo .
Let’s just say it has a turret and some armor plating.God prefers Diesels, Brettj3876 and AModelCat Thank this. -
I recently bought a 2014 Peterbilt 579 Cummins isx 15 with 690,xxx miles on it. I immediately did a inframe with OEM parts. I did reuse the same injectors. I bought it deleted but had it re- flashed back to stock and then re programmed with a good tune. Now my issue is I never hauled a load with this truck before so I don’t know what the average would have been. But I’m currently getting 5.1-5.4 MPG hauling reefer trailer with loads less then 40k running at 68mph no cruise and keeping boost down. I have had my CAC pressure tested and found a small leak on driver side which has been fixed. At 70-71mph my rpms are sitting at 1480-1500. I don’t know what my rears are so I will take the slack for that. I just changed my air filter as well. Any ideas what I can do to average in the 6’s? Thank you in advance.

6.5 in my 2019 pete 389. X15 565hp 1850tq 3.55 gears 24.5 tall rubber 18 spd. Almost always at 80k weight. Flatbed

Slow down you can easily get 6
-
If you know the transmission those rpm + speed (and tire size) can get you what the rear end gears are
Try 65 mph first as someone else said
