I don't know if its lack of experience or lack of giving a crap.

I commuted BC to AB for years and the amount of dumb stuff I've seen is incredible. Coming down Red Pass to the Tête Jaune junction on glare ice and there's 4 or 5 ####tards riding each other's bumpers all the way down the hill. Like #### off. Staying half a kilometer back coming down the grade isn't going to slow your trip down. Same as riding each other's ###es isn't going to save time.

    Just lack of common sense.

^ AModelCat, those are the same tards that scream through the CB on other truckers for going too slow around a bend, they don't like anyone slowing them down, they know the route really well but it's reckless endangerment to anyone else who is new on that lane which also contributes to the accidents. So yes, not only rookie drivers! Some of the old-timers aren't any better.

I've driven from BC to AB and back weekly for over a decade. I know that route like the back of my hand and I still don't take unneccesary risks. Couple years back I almost ended up in a tangle with 3 morons and a grader on one of the straight stretches east of Moose Lake. Glare ice, I'm doing about 90 in a 100. Still probably too fast for conditions in hindsight. All 3 pull out to pass before the blind corner opened up to the straight stretch. 3/4 of a kilometer up the road there's a grader. That was a fun situation (sarcasm).

The amount of people that have died East of Revelstoke is shocking. Some high profile ones also, couple celebrities, the husband of a woman who was run over in a Centex Gas Station Robbery; that made national news. 3-4 busloads of tourists, just a ####ing meat grinder. Literally 0 has been done to change it.

I mean Merritt doesn't even have downgrade signs going eastbound. I start jaking and gearing down, and guys are just in a rage behind me. Then we hit the grade and its nothing but brake lights and smoke.

I am afraid that there will have to be more life lost, before the bureaucracy gets off it's arse. BC will need a Humboldt scale event to bring it about. There isn't even a serious government mandated program requirement to get a CDL in BC.

Even Alberta brought in the MELT program with the 113 hr. course requirement. Of course it was an Alberta outfit involved in Humboldt.

As far as Hwy 1 from the beach to the Alberta border goes, it is in far better shape than it ever was. In the time before the Coq. the Canyon posed more of a danger. Narrow with no passing lanes was the norm. Now the changes are coming at Golden, which are long overdue.

Now the Coq., with too high of a speed limit, more traffic volume and then the attitude of the drivers. The piece from Zopkios to Othello is down hill all the way and the speed should be choked down. How about the guys that pull out of Zopkios and head down into that blind entrance of the snow shed, running too fast to get stopped if needed. The recklessness on display is unbelievable on all sections of that road and in all conditions.

Obviously, the drivers out there are a huge problem. IMHO a larger contributing factor are the companies that endorse these drivers. After all who is running the show? Should the various provincial trucking associations pick up the torch for change? Why are they not leading the charge? Oh, who are the members of these associations?

Sure the road can be challenging, particularly in bad weather, however many roads are. I do believe though that the biggest problem in any weather, is between the steering wheel and the seat. It is an absolute miracle that more are not killed.

BC Trucking Association is joke, I'm not even sure the point of them? Seems a body of the establishment crooks who just pay off the politicians to keep things "wild wild west". The prerogatives of such numerous associations have no intent for safety and prevention, yet to keep the industry destabilized and deregulated, which in turns sustains the players with good profit. Money is the name of the game, but only for them. Wealth concentrated at the very top. Everyone below is a slave for the machine. Wake your mind.

Corruption of ethics and morals, and the government remains complicit to the crimes, it's all about the money, resulting in loss of life.

We need a proper regulatory body to handle transport planning and training, also entailing other aspects regarding commodity transport. The driving schools are joke, only give you enough to get you a CDL quick and dirty.

Everywhere I turn in this province I see corruption, and it's making me sick.

Saw that a superbee used the Kamloops runaway ramp a few days ago . I blow by them uphill they darn near rear end me downhill. MOT at the Kamloops scale look away when a guy pulls on to the plate after doing a roll through brake check and still has smoke billowing off brakes. I called rcmp they had him pulled over at lights in town.

Years ago a truck ran away in Kamloops and took out a building. Can't remember if it was on the highway or if it was the Columbia Street hill. Columbia Street and hospital seem to ring a bell though.
