although it is not needed if it's on your suspension it better be right maybe 1 cop will let it go but others will place you out of service

Don't you fill out DVIR's ? Write it up . They either fix it or sign it off as not affecting safety .

if your company wont replace it just replace it yourself its well worth avoiding the hassle dot is going to give you for it being cut open like that. It shouldn't be more then a couple hundred dollars.

also a good maintenance tip for those and airbags is to spray them with armor all to prevent cracking.

Nope, won't pass and you will be put out of service until it is fixed. We had the same thing happen on a 2 wd dually dodge. Same helper even. We pulled a 4 car wedge with it around the country. The driver was pulled in, inspected and made to unhook at the scale and go get it fixed. He was down two days before they could get the part and have it installed.

Anything thats to be inspected by DOT thats on a truck or trailer has to be in working order, be it lights that are extra add on or anything else. Its either in working order or remove, or be put out of service.

Not to mention the wear on the rears as they won't be traveling level! That'll wear the rear end out pretty fast! Cost: cheaper to replace the air bag!

And if DOT misses it and you WANT it fixed next time you get pulled in point it out! Just remember if you pull into a scale and ASK for an inspection they check a box that says "requested Inspection"!

Sounds like you need to get someone else to do your inspections other than Helen Keller. If you need it to be safe then demand they repair it or tell them to get some suicide jockey to drive it. DOT could care less about what your office told you. You are responsible for what you accept to drive. Your ticket. Your road service call. Your down time. Your decision. Real simple.

im waiting on a response. usually once i send them an email, they get things fixed. funny how you can verbally tell someone something and nothing happens. but as soon as you have a paper trail. bingo! instant fix.
