Very interesting thread! A few weeks ago, While fueling up in Cheyenne, I struck a conversation with another driver about mods he had done to his engine. Just hearing it drive up, you knew it wasn't stock. So, I inquired, and, during the conversation he mentioned opening up the fuel lines from the stock #10's to #12's. The numbers you're mentioning in the thread are different. I assume it's because of location. He told me that CAT starves the motor from the factory and that I should open them up. That was first time I had heard of that, until I researched it on this Forum.
And, Kurt, I haven't forgotten to call you. Just haven't done it. (As if $4.00+ fuel isn't incentive enough)

Interesting thread. I’m having a hiccup when I reach the end of a shift. Best way I can describe it, hiccup, maybe a suck of air or a suck of water .... it seems to be getting more frequent. Cruise on, cruise off - still does it. It’s not ALL THE TIME. I had changed all fuel lines a few years ago, nothing special, just made and swapped them for new. I’m not sure WHEN this hiccup started. AT LEAST 18 months ago. It was infrequent. I thought an injector, but no codes and no change during two separate cut out tests. It’s there more frequently now - daily. I went to another CAT shop and they put a clear sight tube in line with my fuel lines, between the tank and the pump; they used their fitting, sight tube, and long line. We (they) thought it was the frame rail filter housing, replaced that, no change. Then I went home and replaced the fuel line from the filter housing to the transfer pump, no change. I was thinking the housing fittings were sucking air with a hairline crack, or maybe the fuel restriction gauge was allowing air in, so I bypassed the housing - no change.
NOW I’m stumbling. Maybe I got a new hose with the same issue ? Doubtful, but possible. Maybe I’m chasing the wrong symptoms. WHAT size hose should be the main line from the filter to the pump ? I know the fittings are 10. Maybe the line is too large diameter ? I’m pretty sure I made the new lone with 1/2” ID hose.
Any help or ideas are appreciated. Also, the hand primer is still on the truck - original. Tonight I will reinstall the CAT fuel tool (that I had to have) and see if the air bubbles are excessive - though this seems like a vague test method.Last edited: Apr 23, 2021

And what is this upgrade kit y’all talk about ?
Vendor ?
PN ?
Does it work on a 2004 C15 BXS ACERT ? -
waste of time and money let it alone
KWhopping with a stepdeck Thanks this. -
Change both crank and cam timing sensors.
When one goes bad the ECM diverts to the other sensor. When it does this it causes what you describe, a slight burp or studder. Your issues does not sound fuel related to me. It's electrical. -
i replaced my check valve in filter head and turned out it was faulty 304 9385 , low fuel pressure and fuel drain back. Brought another new one 3049385 and happy days 100psi idle and no drain back. 304 9385 is check valve on a sdp acert, The older 271 #### check valve can be dissaaembled and the spring goes soft. Seen then shimmed and / or stretched reassemmbled and fuel pressure restored and no drain back
