Anyone own or drive a 386?

Sorry Ken..Was thinking of 387.Talked to a guy up in Bismarck. Had one. Said it was castrated down to 68 mph but was still averaging around 7. Was pulling 48' spread float. Cummins but cant remember exact hp. Other than being goved he said he had been happy. Also a few WalMart drivers in TX. All liked them pretty well. Said they were sure surprised to see them come into yard.

I have one and I wish I didn't. I feel like I live in a cave. Also it is a PITA to get into most of the places I deliver to. With you being out west I am sure you have a little more room to manuver though.

If you like a Peterbilt cab, you will probably like it, if not, you wont.

The pluses. They ride good, drive good, are generally quite inside, turn fairly sharp, and you can get to the engine easy enough.

The not so great. Worse cup holders that a Columbia. Passenger door will only open enough to let you think you can get in. Can't see well over the dash. Can not see the end of the hood, and front spot mirrors are hard to see.

The factory Bostrom seats are pitiful, it is hard to get between the seats, and the cabinets rattle. The front shackels wear out around 500k and the front axle pops every time you turn in somewhere.

The last place I worked before taking time off had 386 Petes, 9400i IH, and Columbias. They all had the same C-15 engines, but the Petes got the worst mileage. The teams would get upset if assigned to the Petes with low miles, and would rather take an IH with well over 1 million miles instead, me included.
