My question is going to seem weird so I recently started driving a Volvo nvl and I'm coming from Freightliner so my question is when I start to drive the truck and I give it gas it stops at 15,000 RPMs and I'm just wondering is that normal for a Volvo for example when I used to drive the Freightliner I could take it to about 19k
And on this Volvo I can't I will be in 6th gear 15,000 RPMs and it won't let me pass I will have to shift into seven gear and it kind of drops down to about 7 to 8,000 RPMs and puts like a harsh load on the trans that's why I'm asking if this is normal for Volvos I know this sounds kind of weird and I think you for any response I get
I'm new to this lol

Somethin sounds off if the rpms drop that low when shifting and topping out at 15 shouldnt happen i would have a mechanic give it a once over to see what the problem is then figure out if you can fix it yourself

Maybe just needs glasses

It’s most likely a setting in the ecm. @nasriza should be able to tell you if it can be changed. -
At 15000 rpms your truck would be lifting off the ground

Whoever set this volvo up they put a progressive shift or rev limit on it, ####ty set up being that its only open to 1500 rpm but some companies like it that way being that it saves them fuel in the long run, that being said something that can easily be open by changin parameters around if this is you truck need to take to volvo or come by me and i can do it if its a company truck still doable but company has to approve it.JoeyJunk, 86scotty, Smellfunny and 2 others Thank this.
