"We are on a mission to help long haul truckers earn more and be safe while on the road! Join our fast-growing team of Autonomous Truck "

At 70k a year I would be taking a pay cut not earning more.

What's an "AZ Class" License? Wouldn't they require a CDL Class A?

The class A (1) driver’s licence allows you to drive a motor vehicle and towed vehicles where the towed vehicles exceed a total gross weight of 4,600 kilograms (10,000 lb); and vehicles included in classes D and G.

Anyone who drives a vehicle fitted with an air brake system or an air-over-hydraulic brake system is required to have a Z endorsement on their driver's licence.
AZ is a CDL in Canada. In some Canadian provinces an A license is referred to as a class 1 license .

In the U.S. "Air Brakes" is not an endorsement. If you don't have Air Brakes, it would show as a Restriction "Z" on the back of the license.

It isn't an endorsement in most of Canada either. In fact, I think Ontario is the only jurisdiction with the AZ designation. Air brakes are inherent in a Class 1; meaning, you can't have a Class 1 without air brakes. So, no air brake endorsement on my licence. Every other class does get the endorsement if they have air brakes, like my wife's Class 2, for example.

We don't have CDLs either. Just one licence, so you can have a Class 1 for 50 years without ever having driven a truck or commercially.

In Alberta its a "Q" endorsement. With a Class 1 they never used to show the "Q" on the license as it was not possible to hold a Class 1 without having the air endorsement. My last renewal they put the Q on it so maybe they changed the rules recently.

They might have added that due to problems down south. The back of the licence has always showed the legend for the codes, so it shows that Q is for air brakes, but nowhere on a Class 1 did it say you had air brakes.

Plus, we can adjust our brakes without an additional certificate. :biggrin_2559:

Yeah I just renewed mine a few months back and it lists a Q endorsement on the front, right below the DL #
