Not only being a crash test dummy, but also being the person going to jail when the automatic system fails and kills someone.

They want a good communicator with 3 years safe trucking experience a bachelors AND wants them to be mechanically and technically inclined.

Id have done that 5 years ago maybe (depending on what theyd call equivalent bachelors experience), but with that kind of pay and having 0 buy-in on ownership etc, not a chance in hell.

Capacity, i usually would agree with you, but given all their requirements, they want a driver worth 150k to be their slave

It's Canada remember? You can kill 16 kids on a bus and get 8 years in jail. Probably get 3 months for killing one person.

Think about what the original ad is looking for. "Autonomous Truck Operators".

    au•ton•o•mous ô-tŏn′ə-məs

    • adj.
Not controlled by others or by outside forces; independent.
    • adj.
Independent in mind or judgment; self-directed.
So what they're looking for is people to operate something that is supposedly designed to operate itself. Doesn't anybody else see a problem with this?

The link below is to a great article that pretty much sums up the autonomous vehicle industry.

The dream of the truly driverless car is officially dead

The industry full of people looking for investors for an unproven technology. It refers to them as "techno optimists". They make pie in the sky guarantees on where this tech will be in 5-10 years, and rake in billions from investors. Then when the promised date comes and goes, they promise it will be just a little longer. Every time a Tesla in "autopilot" mode crashes into a stationary object, Elon Musk comes out to assure us that it wasn't the fault of the technology, and always places the blame on the driver. Or he tells us that the cars can't drive without a person in the driver's seat with their hands on the wheel, and yet there are dozens of videos on YouTube showing empty driver's seats with people in the back seat. In the mean time our current government is going to dump hundreds of billions into electric car tech without a means to build them or keep them charged. Good luck with that.

Don't worry about your jobs being replaced with autonomous trucks. Yes there will be a few out there running long straight stretches of road in desert states in the summer time. But every one of them will have somebody in the cab to make sure the tech doesn't mess up.
