Stay awaaaayy from the Cobra 18. Anything else there on that list will be fine.

My First pick is a Uniden 68 or 78

My second is one of the Cobra 29's, the chrome edition is purdy :)

Stay along those lines, you will be just fine!

Its a handy feature to have if you operate at night. Either one is fine. The Cobra nightwatch is my least favorite, next is the Uniden Elite line. My favorite backlight system is Galaxy's Starlite faceplate....really cool. The DX 929 and DX 979 have it......very nice radios as well.

I concur the Cobra 18 is considered one of the WORST radios ever made.

The Uniden PC68LTW is a good radio. I had one.

If you need an illuminated night time face plate then get the Uniden. Cobra does make one called the nightwatch but they're known for having the entire night time face going out at one time, then costing almost as much as a new radio to fix. The Uniden uses individual LEDS.

Besides I personally think Unidens are better built anyways. Heck Cobra even used their boards at one time.

What kind of Antennae are you planning on using? The stock ones on the trucks are cheeply made. you will also wanna replace the coax and will need to make sure the antenna has a low swr.

Im not a trucker, so can someone who is answer this question?

Would a magnet mount antenna work on a truck? because if he switches trucks constantly and is using his own antenna that seems to be the easiest

Depends on the truck. I know a couple of guys that run magnetic mounts on Macks, where I work, but haven't seen them on other brands of trucks.

I have used a vice-grip mount, like this one with success, for my back up radio when I've had to use a loaner truck.

Just as a side note, the link I posted I've NEVER done business with that website, it was just the first thing that popped up in my search.
