How are Volvo’s so quiet?

Almost every one I see running down the road have the skirts flopping all over the place

Is this a poor design or just driver neglect?

 

That's all good, and I'm not knocking Volvo at all, but if he breaks down on the road then ebay and the hometown dealer aren't part of the equation.

 

It doesn't have unexpected huge repairs if the driver follows manufacturer's driving instructions and maintenance intervals, things get bad gradually; usually giving you plenty of time to get home. Something small I fix it over the road. Larger repairs are done by young mobile Volvo mechanics working after hours at the yard. Now there's plenty of older ex Volvo dealer mechanics who parted their ways with the dealerships due to various reasons I don't want to discuss here.
P.S. There's a way to get around those $140 per hour dealer shop fees, and the smart owner will find them no matter what brand of the truck he owns.

 

I purchased stock trucks with higher clearance and the highest HP Volvo engines and one of them had skirts. I took them off once I had damage to one of them...

 

I’m a Kenworth person but if you want an auto and it’s older then 2018 then probably a Volvo with I shift. The Eaton autos are really annoying IMO. The Endurant didn’t come out until 2018 model year in the KW. Volvo parts are expensive from what I hear though.

 

volvo 780,D13/2008 my last truck sold it with this miles in 2017, the buyer still runs it, has 2.2 mil still without inframe. But i replaced cam and 4 sets of injectors

 

Friend of mine had a new (probably remanufactured) engine and I-shift transmission put into his truck for $53K out the door at the local Volvo dealership with 250K miles warranty parts and labor couple years ago on his Volvo. So it’s not cheap if you want warranty with any engine manufacturer I think.

 

I love the 16+ Paccar engine, but I have heard the paccar auto is ####. That's why I went manual.

 

I can still call kw with the vin to my uncles 1976 and get parts for it same day

 

because I wouldn’t wish my worst enemy in one of those #### box lumber wagons
