    Hey all,

Wasnt sure where to put this but figured who else would do this but an owner/op.

I got the idea from Cam Roberts thread on installing Home Depot floor in a 379.

my 94 379 had the original carpet in it. I knew I was going to get rid of it ASAP. So O started researching and Cam has a great thread on it.

‘I’m using Traffic Master Allure vinyl flooring. Much easier to mess with that the cl9ck together stuff as it has glue strips.

    it is completely waterproof.

I removed the old carpet, cleaned it, removed a little corrosion (truck was a So-cal truck so not much just some pitting) cleaned some more, prepped with alcohol and primed and painted it, threw down some Killmat 80 mil, hen some waterproof foam cork underlayment then the vinyl.

a few things, the Killmat is some great stuff ad easy to apply. One 35 sq. ft. Box covered front cab, one door with some left over. Still working on covering driver side. Right now I’m just covering inner door skin and will cover more later if needed. I will say. It sound like a nice kenworth door closing now instead of an old 379 lol. I have two more boxes for sleeper and maybe overhead.

I choose the cork underpayment because it is 1/8 thick. Waterproof and anti microbial, has sound deadening help and a tiny bit 0f R value. It was $58 for a 75 sq foot roll. Have tons left.

‘the traffic master allure seems great so far. Much better than the laminate I’ve used in past which wilts when water touched the underside.

not quite done yet, need to finish area around pedals and reinstall close out panels and door panels and clean up some more.

I used a grinder with cutting plate to trim some laminate, razor knife, just score and snap, and drill bit for seat bolt holes etc.

Wanted a lighter color other than dark brown carpet.

will report back on the the noise quality , I’m running 7” straight pipes with a cat so I don’t expect I’ll notice much reduction lolol. But if it takes a few rattles great. I really just need something easier to keep clean as I loath carpet. Next downtime I’ll do sleeper and even Killmat under sleeper.

    I’ll add a few pics

This carpet was super heavy and got wet on last trip from Evap leaking on it. I’ve since sealed it and cleaned drain hose, it has 1.6+ millions miles of use. I also just got back from south Florida where I ran about 20 miles of limestone gravel dirt road to pick up a load and that dust embedded in the wet carpet. Uggghhhh.... vinyl blow out and wipe off.

    Very Nice!

That's on my list. I tore the nasty floor out when I bought my truck
