Don't come to Georgia. They will hold your title until the sales tax is paid and you can prove you registered it somewhere. You don't have to register it here, but if you live here you do have to title it here.
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
No it isn't. The Georgia Department of Revenue specifically targets Montana titles and registrations. This was in the news a few years back. If you lived here when you bought it you have to pay the sales tax on it. A lot of people in Georgia with Lambo's, planes, boats, etc. got slammed with a tax bill. For some it was both sales tax and property tax.slow.rider and Rideandrepair Thank this.

so aslong as i cross multiple state lines in the 2021 calendar year working the truck Im exempt from it? LOL? all this is new to me trying to learn

You might want to check your state's specific language. In Wisconsin they state you are exempt from sales tax only if "Purchaser is a Common or Contract Carrier using the vehicle exclusively as such." So, if I was going to have used my 1 ton pickup exclusively for hotshot work I didn't need to pay sales tax. However, I mostly just haul my own things around with it so I had to pay tax. For the Peterbilt, I'm not paying sales tax.slow.rider Thanks this.
