My wife and I talked about another boat. My wife was a professional sailor and her brother has been in the America's cup several times. Before we parted with the place in Australia, we were talking about just sailing back and forth. We looked seriously at boats, the biggest sailboat we have owned was like a 35 footer. So we looked at a 72 footer and had a deal struck, then my wife chickened out. We have a few friends who have been sailing around the world constantly with no home port for about 15 years or so now. The only sailboats we have left are the Kid's boats. We actually spent last Christmas at the Houston yacht club. That is my wife's hangout, not mine. Her folks are still there. So she and the kids are down there alot. I don't care for it much though.singlescrewshaker, Brettj3876, Eldiablo and 9 others Thank this.

Well not all my polishing is done, and its dirty already. Have to admit, broke down and ordered a buffer. I wore my arms out on the wheels. 3 inches of rain Sunday. Water everywhere.

I've been a lifelong sailor, its in the blood. I can't buy a boat and sit at the dock, though the older I get the less I want to sail worldwide , as much as the Med intrigues me. Probably just sail winter months in the Bahamas and Caribbean than pull the boat for the summer to go back trucking.,
I have a specific older 37 foot boat I want so it's a hunt, but I am no hurry, I would first like to find a plot of land in Tennessee to eventually build a small house on for my old old years.
Yea my sailing buddy was looking at buying a farm down in Nicaragua, he says its super affordable and the area is much more livable than Honduras because the infrastructure is there , he is ready to be land bound . I would have to check it out, I'm a little leery of Third World governments, but at the rate the U.S. Is going it may not be much different.,
Only sailboats i have is my MC16 scow and my Prindle 16 catamaran up north. I debated selling the scow because I have barely used it .
Last week I spent 3 hours rounding up all the misplaced hardware and managed to launch it and get a hour sunset sail on the Gulf before I snuck back the 2 miles up the backwater channel in a falling breeze and turning tide before the Noseeums killed me .
That hour of sailing was enough to convince me to hold onto it, too easy and convenient to go for a quick sail and its old enough leaving it out in the weather on the trailer doesn't make me cry.Last edited: May 10, 2021
