Hi y'all! I was wondering if anyone has info about FXF terminals in Vegas? I'm currently a road driver in the east coast looking to relocate. I'm mostly just concern if I will be able to make decent money out there. Thanks!
You Should be able to make money. FDX has 3 main terminals in Vegas. The biggest terminal is in henderson, 1 package terminal in North Vegas and 1 Freight terminal also in North Vegas. There are ALOT of big name distribution hubs in and around Vegas so work should be constant.
Lots of good work here. FedEx Old Dominion Estes Express UPS YRC Reddaway ABF Saia ~ I live in Henderson; 15 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip.
Las Vegas would be quite a huge shock coming from the east coast, assuming you’re currently low on the seniority list. No dock work or bs vias to worry about, just miles and miles of peaceful driving. I don’t work in that area but it’s definitely high on my list of places I’d consider transferring to. There’s the LVS terminal in the north end of town and SLV to the south. Looks like LVS is currently hiring. I recommended checking out the FBook employee group and asking the same question there. I’ve seen quite a few posts from drivers in that area, usually all with positive things to say.
I meant it more in terms of transferring within the company, it would be quite a bit different, with favorable conditions for road drivers who just want to get some miles.
The cost of living in Vegas is 38 percent higher than The national average. Car insurance is highest in the country. Your rates will likely double the day you Switch it over. Don't believe all the fairy tales. The old Vegas is gone. Go look at the rental prices on Craigslist, If your single and have your own place, You'll basically live week to week. If your married and your wife works, You'll be fine. Or you could be like almost everybody else Out there, and Shack up with a roommate. Good luck.
Great to hear I will have options if I want to transition outside of FXF. I am also considering Henderson as a place of residence as I like the area a lot during the previous trips. That, or Summerlin but I do know that comes with a price tag.
Good to hear it'll be less dock work. It is also on my top list as it's close to a lot of National Parks and only a few hours away from the coast. I love the desert heat so it isn't so bad either. I'll let you know if it's worth it, or you let me know if you make the move before I do.
You'll love it here! If you plan to rent, go through a legitimate rental agency or real estate agent that manages rental property. Trying to rent online is a big risk because of scammers trying to rent property they don't own or have any authority to rent.
