I have worked with a broker that I haul sprinter vans for all the time. Never had an issue or complaint with them before. All the loads I did for them went over smoothly until this week.

Booked a long wheelbase hightop sprinter with them. I always ask for pics and info on the van. I ask if it is modified, upfitted or empty ect...
Broker claimed its just a new long wheelbase high top and that was all the info he had. Couldn't get a picture from broker or shipper.

I arrive at the destination and I see all the sprinters are heavily modified RV style with low plastic side steps, plumbing under the rear and water tanks mounted low in the middle of the chassis. I knew straight away I couldn't get that on my trailer.
Shipper told me 3 trucks already came by and couldn't load it and one even damaged it on the bottom and tore out that water tank off the brackets trying to load it. They also delayed me for almost an hour.

I told broker that if he had a picture or even described it to me I would have passed on the load and all would have been well. Would have been nice if he would have mentioned the three other trucks that failed to load it. I requested a modest compensation for my time and broker flipped out and started a screaming match saying I should have had 12 foot ramps and none of this is his problem or his fault. He never mentioned I needed 12 foot ramps for this load and he even has pictures of my setup.

Burn the bridge, give him a negative review and add him to my blocked list or just forget about it and move on and hope I don't have anymore issues with him? I'm more angry that he decided to scream instead of just talk and discuss like a normal person and work it out. I didn't ask for much. I have a flat $75 per hour fee for stuff like this which I think is more than fair. He is not a small broker.

We all have bad moments in life. It seems like you both had a good working relationship before this incident. I've been there before I told the broker if you don't lower your voice you will hear the silence. He did, that is hear the silence on the other end. We were able to get past it. If possible and you believe you can move forward, this working relationship is worth it mend the fences. If not you live in a beautiful country with plenty of opportunities. Before a fall there is pride.

If this is the first time you’ve had any issues with the broker and it’s been a profitable doing business with them, I’d let it slide and carry on.
    it happens.

Perhaps this broker wasn’t aware that three other trucks already came and couldn’t load it?

and the one dingus that damaged it should have been able to glance at the sprinter and know that it wasn’t gonna work with his ramps.
I assume his insurance is now paying for the damage he caused ?

I’ve seen people Carry extra ramp extensions just for this situation. Or some lengths of 2x12 lumber with some support blocks .

Since the rest of the loads have gone good, think I'd just let it calm down a bit.

There's one guy I pull for that is afu at times. We have a " We need each other relationship " nothing more.

If it was someone you'd never pulled for, different story. I'll give people two chances depending how f/u they are.

However there is never a reason to misrepresent the load or anything else. When they have to lie to get you involved it doesn't set very good with me.

While burning bridges was customary years ago, it was a victimless crime, there were plenty of jobs, and little about your past. I don't recommend that today. Instead, you should adapt to whatever the wagon will hold, in this case, bigger vehicles. Personally, I'd carry some 6 foot planks with me, just for this reason, and haul the mail. Damage, and I hope they don't pin that on you, is costly, and makes those wood planks seem pretty cheap. Good luck and I'm not ripping on you, but a good driver does what it takes to get the job done,,,within reason, of course.

It sounds like the broker was frustrated that he just couldn't get this thing picked up properly. REGARDLESS, if you have had a good business working relationship with him I think the shouting is way out of line, I would re-evaluate my relationship with that broker.

Too little too late and you didn't ask or anything but a small pile of 2x4s and maybe some 4x4s could have got that thing loaded

I don’t enjoy being yelled at anymore than the next guy. I usually hang up and give them a few minutes to gather themselves and call back. Gives them a chance to realize the error in their ways! Lol! I agree with most of what was said above. Everyone has bad days. If it was a good relationship before maybe it’s worth giving a second chance.
And not that you asked. But a decent little hill on say a driveway or something might have made it loadable. But it would require a hill on the other end also. Wood would work also but it would have to be pretty stout. And I’ve never carried that much wood.

    Appreciate everyone's input.
I guess I'll let it go and move on.
I'll be looking for HD 12 foot ramps to swap out my 8 foot ones and still carry my 4 ft layovers.

    201 and BigBob410 Thank this.

Instead of spending the extra $$$ on longer ramps I think these would come in handy. 8069DEAE-EFF5-4E38-9B27-F96992645890.jpeg Since you probably would only need them occasionally.
