well, i know from being a gun owner, and many of you might know this too, if you have a criminal record, you are NOT allowed to own a gun.

so therefore, if such a background check should be done on anyone applying for a CDL, if it is found that person has or had a criminal record, they too should be banned for life, from obtaining a CDL, no excuses, no exceptions, no expungement EVER of arrest records, jail or prison time.

any arrest even for a misdemeanor of having weed on your person, or using it, and testing positive? lifetime ban on getting a CDL

any arrest for alcohol use, abuse, drunk driving charges, OUI, DQI, OUI...WHATEVER ....life time ban from getting a CDL

any CDL current holder, EVER just being arrested, lifetime ban on his CDL. you had it on you..??? you KNEW what you were doing...PERIOD.

but none of this will ever happen.

so the idiots will continue to plague the industry. and the rest of YOU will suffer, not anyone of us retired drivers.......

80% of the accidents involving a car and a truck are the fault of the driver of the car. That's not too bad.

    Many politicians are lawyers.

True, but here's who will be lining up to hire them. Werner, JB, Swift, USA, US Express and so on.

Maybe so, but that doesn't mean truckers are stupid.

Ah yes, punishment forever instead of allowing people to become full citizens again. Thats a <s> great idea </s>

The rates they can charge depend to a large degree on their safety ratings. They're not in the business of charging as little as possible. Contrary to popular belief, the billions they supposedly get from the government for hiring millions of drivers has turned out to be mostly just an urban legend.

It depends on the 18-21 year old.
As been said, finding those who aren’t snowflakes and can pass a drug test will be the burden.
They have already eliminated rule #2, the being able to converse and understand English rule.
