Where do all the dealers around GTA get their frames blasted and painted at, along with cab painting? Only a few doing it down east and I'm told its EXPENSIVE, and well worth my time to get it done up there?

You should do it yourself...minimal investment is a $100 pot blaster and a compressor, mine is 18CFM @ 90...sandblasting the most fun you can have with your clothes on.
not4hire Thanks this. -
What about air lines and all that jazz?
-
I have a big 2cyl 80 gal compressor, but I dont want to do it. I have an 86 chev 4x4 square body I'm restoring and several motorcycle projects on the go. I want to drop it for the last 2 weeks of August and go home. Frame for sure, maybe a full paint depending on cost. I have zero write off this year left in the truck sobi need to spend some on it, and .05c a mile repairs/maintenance wont cut it.'88K100 Thanks this.

And again with your cloths off trying to figure out how the f did sand get there? Lolnot4hire Thanks this.

Sandblasting is ok if want to remove all rust and old paint , but can damage electric and air lines along the frame . I prepped the frame washing it well before paining with an air needle scaler and sander and paint it with POR 15, great stuff, for 3 years already i don't have rusty spots. But i spray it every year before winter and salty roads with few cans of Krown oil .

I think they use soda blasting don't they?
-
Possibly soda,,did not go over well in my area buy likely more common in larger centers. Many are using water and sand under high pressure,,,fast and no dust.
UTECH expoxy primer is extremely durable,I consider POR 15 overpriced marketing of a high solids epoxy, not even in the league of premium products.Elroythekid Thanks this. -
Lesco Industrial in Oshawa ON quoted me about $1800 to do the frame on the W Star, that did not include removing anything like fuel tanks, just the frame that they could see and get to easily, and that quote was from 2019, I'm sure the rate has gone up. They have a website if you want to check them out.Elroythekid Thanks this.

Without stripping the frame the paint is only for vanity,,,who knows what lurks behind all the brackets etc. If not stripping the frame might as well just steam clean and squirt epoxy primer. Kirker TM is cheap and has a medium gloss finish and very durable.
K-Jack and Elroythekid Thank this.
