ICs keep an eye on your Opti miles versus your dispatched miles. I followed Opti routing today and it turned into almost 100 extra miles than the dispatch and Roehl won't change it. The route used for dispatch is a long, winding two land through Glacier National Park and Opti routed me along a better truck route but way out of the way. Expensive lesson.

That happened to us 99% of the time as company team drivers. It use to tick me off.
-
Yep. Occam's Razor. The word ICs in the title isn't necessary.
-
Yeah, it occurred to me after posting it probably happens to company drivers too. Though you more or less have to run Opti which really sucks.
-
Yes company drivers are stuck with the opti route. We would have to get permission from the fleet manager which you would rarely get.
-
I have gotten it before, when Opti told me to go back 300 miles.
-
On every load sheet I note the paid miles versus actual driven miles and I can honestly say that every single load I have run since becomming a O/O had paid me for less miles that I have actually driven. Normally it is between 20-50 miles total but that sure does add up. They pay us practical miles verses hub miles so this is to be expected. I just learn the places they really short us and then I refuse that load.
-
I usually keep track of mine too. Just got in a hurry and took off along the Opti before noticing the difference. 20 miles a load, I can swallow that but 100 mile difference is a bit tougher.

craziest routing i had, heading west on I-80 to SLC from Iowa. Had me going down to the Pilot in Denver CO to fuel and then north on 25 back to 80. Took 20 minutes on the phone and 3 people to get a new fuel stop sent out.

I am company, but I never have a problem changing my route anymore. After I tongue-in-cheek told them they were trying to kill drivers by sending them over two lane mountain roads when interstates were a viable option I don't get an arguement anymore. By the way Marshfield dispatch does not understand the fine art of sarcasm. My personality probably lends itself to o/o better than being a company driver. I don't tend to ask, I tend to tell the kids at dispatch what I'm going to do.
