Hi there! Was pulled over and got overweight on my drive with 2500lb in Utah. And a false log violation .
Was checking on UT penalties and fees for overweight and so 0.04/lb . That makes around $100 . I would gladly pay the fine but was thinking that I need my license clean .
Will a overweight ticket damage my license ?

Should I hire somebody to help me ? Can the log violation be fight ? Is it worthy? I am lease to another company and would like to fix it if I can . The log problem was that I was off duty in one location and in on duty 92 miles away . No driving between…. I do know my mistakes. Thanks for any advice.

The log falsification is your bigger concern.

A lawyer who's local to the courthouse is your best bet, they can usually get the charge down to something minor that won't hurt your record. You'll still pay the fine and you'll have their bill too but it's the cost of protecting your license.

Overweights and logs aren't moving violations.

They'll effect your csa though since you were inspected.

Just fines. Nothing to really be concerned about. However, you do actually need to log check in/check out at the shipper and consignee as On Duty time, otherwise it looks like you're just joyriding. Same goes for pre-trip inspections.

I thought it was usually 5 mph on ELD's. Just fast enough to where you can creep around a parking lot off duty if you need to.

    It's 5 mph.

You can get around this by changing your On Duty status to Yard Move. Yard Move allows tractor speeds up to 20 mph. Afterwards, edit your logs to Sleeper Berth or Off Duty.

Works for me. You can make it work for you.

Might not work so well during a Log Audit. Every edit SHOWS UP as an edit. Too many will cause suspicion. Good luck with that.
