Nope, according to you then it is OK to lose a leg to an IED, if you smoked weed at 18 but you could not drive a truck at 30?

Or maybe you also feel those people should not be allowed to serve?

I've served with a bunch of them and would again. I'd also do whatever I could to help them get a CDL. They would #### sure do a finer job than some of what I see out here and you wouldnt see piss bottles and trash at every stop.

As I read through this “tread”, and remembering to the ata clown said the other day with many of us fleet owners on a conference call, I realized that this is another bullsh**** law that only addresses 5% of a problem.

my kids who turned 18 have cdls, they are older now and not one of them cares to make driving a career, and neither does any of their friends - I have offered to a few of them jobs but nope.

so one of my kids mentioned when he saw this ata clown on national tv crying about the trucker shortage, why the push for otr when there is a lot of local work that doesn’t need anyone to go over a state line and it seems there are no 18 year olds jumping at those $25/hour PLUS jobs so expect them to jump at a chance to become OTR truckers is really stupid.

while you bash on felons, I am one who made mistakes in life and paid with going to prison i don't blame nobody but myself and people who puts a stereotype on felons makes me sick i have done time got out went back to school obtain my CDL was a company driver for 2 yrs and on my third year brought my first rig and went full blown O/O so to each is own i worked hard to get my life back on track for people to look at me sideways because i am a felon i been out of prison free and clear for 5 yrs and i have accomplished more than a law abiding citizen would do in a lifetime with me being on the outside for 5 yrs now but keep on bashing it makes me sick but it also motivates me as well

As a Millennial myself, I wholeheartedly agree. But, I know Gen X said the same about us Millennials. And the baby boomers probably said the same about Gen X. So the cycle continues haha

I do have a few acquaintences from high school that lived with their parents until their mid 20s before moving out. A couple have moved back now in their early 30s. I think part of it was from Covid. 4 or 5 years of life experience and minimum wage employment don't exactly set a person up to weather a storm like that.
