I've been driving refer for four months now & have a question. I should also add that I have weekends off & usually end up with a non-refrigerated load on Friday but his weekend is different. I have a load of dairy products on that are supposed to be kept at 34 degrees. I've been pulling my present Utility 3000R trailer for about there weeks now & the refer seems solid. The trailer is 10 years old. I hauled ice cream on Tuesday at -10F in 100 degree weather & the refer never missed a beat in the 8 hours I had the load on.

Now my question. I'll be off Friday night until early Monday morning. I park my truck 38 miles from my home. How often would you all drive over & check the refer temp? I plan on going over tomorrow & Sunday. I'm I overly cautious?

I dunno. How often do you want to break your break to going on duty to do work related tasks?

I guess at least twice. I work for a 14-truck company that treats their drivers well & also pays well. When I took the job the owner told me to treat my truck & job as if I owned it. Besides it gives me an excuse to ride my neglected motorcycle.

I work for a Mega, but when we do "yard checks." Checking reefers sitting at our drop yards. It's just done once daily. Set temp, current temp, fuel level.

I don't know any o/o that logs himself on duty, while working on his truck during a weekend

I’d run it by your company and see what they say just to cover yourself. Perhaps they’ll tell you not to worry about it..

I would go over twice each day, but I also, would be paranoid. I pulled refers for 6 months
