For my P&D friends here, what are the start times like at your outfit? Do any of you all have a set start time for the week or is it different every day based on freight?

I start at 6:00 AM every day on the same run, unlike FXF where they only bid the time.
Trucker61016, Bean Jr. and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -
I start at 0900 am.
LTLdreamin Thanks this. -
What do you mean bid the time? I'm a rookie here lolTrucker61016 Thanks this.

Well, when we bid in a run it covers both the start time AND the territory.
At FedEx on the other hand, their bids only cover the time. You punch in at your bidded time and they send you wherever.
I like our way better, but from what I hear we’re the odd bunch compared to other outfits.Trucker61016 and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -
I actually wouldn't mind either. Our start times are all over the place, one day 6am, the next 9:30am, then 7am and so on. I've never worked like this before, schedule wise. I feel like I have absolutely no time to do anything but work, especially when I start at 9am, finish at 9pm and have to be back at 7am.Northeast Hillbilly, Trucker61016 and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this.

I’m assuming you’re asking about driving day. It really depends, but if you use full 14h every day you will be starting the same time every day - just a hint.
And yes, this job takes it all, you only have enough time to sleep, but barely.Trucker61016 Thanks this. -
my yard is 530am to 10am start, but i always come in at 8am

You bid your start times, for P&D.all based on seniority. Line Haul bids runs, meets, turns and layovers. Low seniority drivers usually get stuck on the extra board for a few years.Last edited by a moderator: Jul 27, 2021

My terminal I’m there about 10am to start hooking for my Linehaul run. I notice the new P&D guys there showing up. So I imagine newbies are around 10am-11am.
Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this.
