Talk on the CB was that the guy who hit the driver chaining up was in a huge hurry to get down the road before the chainlaw sign went up.

Bet he isnt in a hurry now, he actually hit 2 drivers and killed one, how wreckless can you be. Ive actually had to duck under a trailer while chaining so i didnt get hit, and i was up against the tire while chaining and the truck was well out of traffic. Some drivers just dont know how to pay attention or get over. Does anyone know what company the driver works for that hit those 2 drivers?

wow a driver from cr england' and has the guts to keep going until he got to love's. i guess he ad to find that one spot up front..i hope he gets everything he deserves loser.

And they were wearing reflective vests. Coming around a circular on ramp, how can you not watch the back of your trailer with another truck on the side, and people, to make sure you will clear, before proceeding? He may have been more worried about getting stuck.
Unfortunately, if it wasn't a designated "pull out" or chaining area, he may avoid charges. Tragic. I don't know what Oregon's laws on this are. -
There should be a law that prohibits drivers unfamiliar with snow and ice from driving areas that have snow and ice...
That would put about 90% of the drivers from Cali out of work and all of the NAFTA drivers out of work too...but.....what's more important...

At some point in everyone's driving career, they've had to experience snow & ice; it's just part of the job. And it isn't where the driver was from that should matter-- what should matter is that a life was taken, a family has lost a loved one, and drivers need to watch out for one another - you are a brotherhood of sorts out there. I agree with 100%...
There should be training in ice and snow...
The "Big Guns" like SWIFT and CRE can even afford to send students and even veteran drivers to simulators for training and a refresher course..
There are also "Ice Pans" around the country where drivers can experience the "feel" of ice in a safe and controlled environment...
I for one, slow down and get myself "Out of the situation" and not into one....I have pulled over during blizzards and black ice conditions and have had other drivers make references to me as a young female child for doing so...
However...they were the one's still sitting in the ditch the next morning...
I just drove on by knowing that my "manhood" was still attached and my drawers were clean from not having to slide into a ditch in the dark....
Many people believe that if they admit their inexperience with dynamic conditions will alter the confidence their fellow sensible drivers would have for them....Nothing could be further from the truth....
I would rather have someone inform us that they have little to no experience for given conditions, than to keep quiet because they are afraid to tell us.....
How many drivers have been hurt or killed because they feared people would think less of them for their lack of experience?
That being explained.....
Drivers....
Remove all doubt and speak up.....You'll get the advice and help you require if you simply ask for it....There's no shame in asking for help....
