Trucking is only as dangerous as you make it, If you go out looking for trouble you might find it but it really just comes down to common sense, I have been to some pretty rough areas but I have never really had any dangerous situations

If you have a high value load, or even any load for that matter, don't go around talking about what you have, hijackings do happen

don't go around with your wallet out, always lock your doors, just regular common sense things,

I have never heard of a driver being raped in a shower, but I have heard of women drivers being raped, and that is why it always bothers me when I hear women drivers on the CB, telling everyone where they are going and where they are stopping, because you never know who is listening, and there are nutjobs out there that will do you harm, believe me on this one because I have had male drivers follow me into rest areas and they made it clear to me what their intentions were, even though I don't go out and look for attention or draw attention to myself on the CB.

Women drivers need to be especially careful, as the nutjobs out there see you as an easy target, so ladies please be careful out there.

This was the funniest post I've read on this fourm thus far..ROTFLMAO!!!!!
It's taken me at least 20minutes to control my laughter b4 I could comment...What's funny, and I mean no offense b/c I too am a newbie..But, My God! That is classic trash talk if I ever heard it....Could you imagne some BIG FAT SMELLY Trucker violating a new driver in the showers b/c he doesn't know the ropes!..####!!!.. A bunch big old veteran drivers lookin for fresh newbie meat...Those guys got you good friend. But I'm gonna tell the same stories to new drivers too. Under the title..."Things you need to look out for on the road"..LOL...However, I have heard plenty of stories of drugs, prostitution, an undercover cops making arrest trying to catch drivers with their "pants down" so to speak....LOL.... Although, I'm being silly. One thing that I could see happening at a seedy truck stop is drivers raping prostitutes, fights or driver thefts. So, you just have to keep your eyes open....I know it wasn't your intention but, you gave me a good laugh..Just have fun with it..I guess it's just what us rookies must deal with in the beginning.

I was walking into a pilot once and saw, from the corner of my eye, a dark figure rapidly approaching. I swung around head down and fists up ready to take him on, steel tip boots ready to crack his knee cap into dust... It was my shadow.

None of that happens. Even Gary, IN has become just a couple of chain truckstops. It usrd to be ground zero for crime in trucking. There aren't even prostitutes knocking on doors like the old days.
