Aluminum did go up some, but nowhere near as much as lumber did. Lack of parts due to shuttered factories combined with high demand from high rates is likely the bigger issue. Production is ramping up but the existing backlogs will still take months or even years to work thru.
As far as workers, a lot of people are saying lack of affordable childcare is a big issue. If childcare costs just as much as a prospective job pays, then getting that job is pretty pointless. So they're looking at a surge of new applicants come fall when schools open.

One of my neighbors works for the GP mill in the area. The plant was working 24/7 before the virus and never slowed down. Thing is thr raw materials part of the industry, the ones who sell the trees, the loggers, etc have not seen any increase on what they are making. Just the price gouging from the mills, wholesalers and retailers.jamespmack, Jarhed1964, Cat sdp and 5 others Thank this.

Oddly enough, the rates to move such items are still as low as they always were.Jarhed1964 Thanks this.

Most of them are junkie losers who chose their worthless lifestyles.Big_D409 Thanks this.

It's super easy to pass judgement on the disadvantaged while heroically hiding behind a keyboard, but the fact is that over half a million Americans were killed by opiate addictions that were caused by a certain subset of corporate America intentionally misleading doctors and patients.
-
That's not fair, or it is? It reminds of our industry when at certain times we can only either sit and do nothing or haul for too cheap.
Anyhow, this lumber / logging business is more complicated than I I thought. -
Junkie losers. I'm not hiding behind anything. Life is full of choices. Nobody is FORCING them to live that way. There are endless amounts of socialist programs to get them clean. I'm beginning to notice a certain trolling type pattern to your posts. I refuse to be sucked into your nonsense. Welcome to the ignore list.AModelCat Thanks this.

Nobody can force them to clean up either. And one of the biggest problems with physical addictions is their ability to compromise people's decision-making capacities. But thanks for admitting that you don't know anything about opiates.
Shouldn't a "professional noticer" have noticed such a thing a long time ago?

Well back to the post.....has anyone seen decent used vans? I haven't gone and looked at any yet just putting feelers out there.
slow.rider and bzinger Thank this. -
What are you looking for, spec wise? My father just sold his o/o spec utility (2018 and was probably used a dozen times) for 35k. Didn’t even last 12 hours on truck paper website. I’d sell my van for a spread, but that’s even more difficult to find.
