Per the salesman at Peterbilt in Lincoln there’s a new round of government stuff coming, Nate kept calling it greenhouse gas regs. We monkeyed around with the specs on mine, even adding a PTO switch to it to see if it would let him disable the idle timer and it wouldn’t. That’s when we started messing with the time limit. He told me there has to be a value for speed and idle time from the factory and until new trucks start rolling out, which should be about now, that they have no idea of the values can be changed after the fact.

Also a family friend just bought a Mack
And took delivery 3 weeks ago I just called him. His truck was turned to 87 mph by dealer with no ? Asked. Seems to be a dealer thing.Speed_Drums and bzinger Thank this. -

The Mack was probably ahead of it too. My truck is a late August build.

The manufacturers get some kind of tax credit to keep emissions to a minimum. That’s why paccar won’t make a 550 or 600 hp Mx …. Hp takes fuel , burn fuel make emissions……..
changing hp after delivery increases emissions.
They don’t want any changes from the factory.
And yes there are some dealerships that will turn them up . But they are an endangered species.
And I wouldn’t let any other dealership you might end up in do any updates . Because they might just set that speed again. And who knows what else….Tell them you’ll do it at your home dealership and do not update period.Speed_Drums, Midwest Trucker and jason6541 Thank this. -
Well what good is a “clean idle” truck if you can only idle it for 5 minutes?
I don’t se a lot of new trucks with APUs on them either? I thought companies were going back to idleing?Dave_in_AZ, TheLoadOut and bzinger Thank this. -
Battery apu seems to be the new way……

Well, you may not be able to turn the speed limiter up in the ECM........ but you can sure reduce the tire size in the ECM......
Not that I would suggest anyone do such a thing......TheLoadOut, Midwest Trucker, Ruthless and 2 others Thank this. -
The max speed being limited to tire rating is a Paccar thing because of a lawsuit in 2015. I found out about it in 18 when I ordered the truck I’m currently driving.
Peterbilt recalls semis that go faster than tires can handle
Edit: That may not be the correct article, but that’s what I was told in 18….Midwest Trucker, bzinger, Ruthless and 1 other person Thank this. -
Paccar or Cummins,
