Job offer we are considering.

    Seriously considering taking this job tomorrow.
    My wife feels really comfortable with them and their training.

    I've been out of a truck for 10 years and the wife drove buses so no combinations experience.

    How does this sound.
    LTL sub contracter. Hauling triples for fedex and R+L.
    W2
    Home weekends
    2500 miles on a dedicated route
    Pets ok

    For me
    Base rate .35cpm
    Per diem .15cpm
    Total rate .50cpm

    Wife
    Base rate .27cpm
    Per diem .15cpm
    Total rate .42cpm

    We both get $2000 highering bonus paid at $100 per check for twenty weeks.

    Any thoughts welcome.

    Once you get the experience & both of you are comfortable with working together (sometimes it does work so well). R&L, Old dominion, & FedEx company teams definitely pays a lot more with benefits. If you decide to continue teaming together. I thought about it with my wife but we didn't move forward in that direction. All the best for you & your wife

    Unless your talking .92 to the truck for all miles, those are pretty poor rates for a team truck. Especially for pulling triples. For triples, I wouldn't consider less than .60 to the truck for all miles in a team situation, and even that would be low enough I probably wouldn't bother.

    As team drivers you are in demand in the industry. Know your worth. If your not each pulling down close to 2k a week or more, your getting shafted without any lube.

    You better grab it! You got a good rate considering you've been out of the truck so long. As for the wife, that's a really good starting pay. At 2500 miles per week, that's good money.

    Is that 2500 miles a week EACH, or 2500 miles a week as a TEAM?

    If it is 2500 miles a week EACH then that sounds pretty good, but if that is 2500 miles a week as a team then it is crap IMO. Each driver should be able to easily get 500 miles a day in the western USA... Thats 1000 miles a day for a team, 5000 miles a week. Example: A team LTL doing relays should be able to go from Salt Lake City, UT to Sidney, NE and back every day... Or Salt Lake City, UT to Butte, MT and back every day.

    Using the rates you provided, assuming each of you drives 50% of the miles...

    If it is 2500 miles as a TEAM, TOGETHER you would be GROSSING $1125 per week... I NET that much or more a week as a solo OTR driver.

    But if it is 2500 miles EACH, then together you would be GROSSING $2300 a week... That's not bad for a 5 day work week. Not the best out there, but definetally not the worst... And surely livable.

    Go for it; considering the experience level of you and the wife, that's a good start.
    In 12 months you can go to many places if you choose to leave.
    The bonus is, the cats can ride along.

    2500 each.
    The rate goes up to .65cpm over a little time.
    We may look for greener pastors in the future but we have a good feeling about this company. I hope we are right.

    Teams are in demand. My suggestion is to go interview with other companies and compare offers.
