Is it normal to have a little shaving on the oil drain plug? This is a auction truck fixed it up. But I recently did it’s first oil change. Trucks in Florida drove it down from Texas about 8 months ago . It’s only throwing two codes for sensors that need replacing nothing major far as I know. Around 700k miles on truck 2006 century

Time to cut open the oil filter.
Jarhed1964, Rideandrepair and AModelCat Thank this. -
Shavings? No, that is not a good sign. You'll pick up a couple PPM worth of iron on an oil sample but those are microscopic particles.
I agree with above. Cut open the filters. Lots of metal there its time to consider opening it up before it blows up.Jarhed1964 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Like others said, Its not a good sign to see metal shavings on the drain plug, get it checked
