Are there no trucker headhunters like the "exectutive search firms"? I've been looking and I've found web sites like "submit your resume to 1000 companies" but I'm looking for more targeted results. Basically I want somebody who has the contacts and knows the turf to do my job search for me. Of course I would expect to pay for the service... if I could find one.

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

That sounds like being really lazy to me, why waste your money on that when you can grab a phonebook and get on the internet and get all the information you would need?
-
I often eat at restaurants when I could cook my own food. As far as that goes I could grow my own food and livestock. I could change my own oil and wash my own truck. Time is money. If there is someone who specializes in a thing be it oil changes or job hunting why not pay them to do it and I can spend my time on my specialty. It's a service economy we live in, I don't mind paying for services that allow me to focus on other things.

"Headhunting firms" are for potential employees that are in demand. Such as scientists, CEO's, hospital directors etc. NOT "dime a dozen" truck drivers.
-
Typically headhunter services charge you a minimum of 10% of your annual salary to find you the position. On the other side they are charging the employer a fee for their services. I would guess that there are not many truckers that have $4K-8K to shell out for headhunting services. Also, since trucking companies have drivers banging on their doors to let them in, they are not going to be contracting headhunters for their services.
Baack Thanks this. -
I had a drivers agent at my school. He was a real jackazz. He was pushing for CRST (all team) and US Express. A few others.
2 companies you can get on by yourself.
You've got a computer. I did 9 apps in one day online and followed them up the next day with phone calls. -
your lazy, if you cant take the time to look this up on your own, then you shouldnt drive a truck, lots of sitting, staring out the window, growing your own crops and raising your own livestock is not in anyway the same as applying for a trucking job.
also, at my company, if you sumbit your resume to one of those " shooter " sites that sends your application to 100 companies, they wont hire you, cause it shows them without looking at ur application that your really not into it if you not willing to take the time to read about the company.
plus, doing so, you dont get any information about a company, pay, trucks, freight, hometime, saftey and so on, cause your not reading about any of that about such company, then when they call you, if they do, you will be asking all the questions that are already answered on their website...
just mho. -
Careful what you say there pup. I used the website Everytruckjob. And I had a small fleet that is leased on to MCT call me. I have 14 years in the business and only thing I haven't done so far is all the Michigan doubles. So telling someone they won't get hired by having someone else do the application for them is quite erronous. While it did take me 7 months to get hired I didn't follow up with phone calls for most of that 7 months. When November came every company I applied to recieved a call from me within 3 days by 11 am. I have no complaints about MCT or the small fleet that I run for. As for the Op just make sure to make follow up calls with all apps no matter how you turn the application in. Best advise I can give. Ignore the nay sayers they are the ones sitting in the truckstops on the CB's anyway.

soon2betrucking "...your lazy, if you cant take the time to look this up on your own, then you shouldnt drive a truck..."
i say it's flat-out rude and degrading to tell someone that- people come here looking for answers- not disrespect
i am a mod and admin on several other boards and if i was a mod here, you would be penalized for flaming another member, especially a trucker
to me you and your attitude are part of the problem in this industry
if you cant offer some helpfull advice to an inquiry (as in posts you have made in other threads) ... why even post ?Last edited: Dec 23, 2009
