If that pancake is leaking, I think it's a little quicker than breaking the two nuts loose, taking the hoses off and cutting the push rod.

That's nasty stuff. Way back in my first year days I had a vac truck I was getting ready for CVI and all 8 clevis pins were seized. One so bad it actually left a drive axle brake locked on. My first experience with an Alison and I ended up dragging the tires across the paved yard and into the shop. Had no clue, having never been in an automatic truck of any kind before. Hardly took much throttle to get moving so I never really suspected anything was amiss.

Especially if you're stuck on the shoulder. One reason why I always suggest keeping a few caging bolts in the toolbox. Once they've been in the holder on the pot for a season or 2 they are extremely difficult to get out.

True enough, guess it depends on the overall condition of the can..

Both methods sound pretty bad to me. When Mom & Pop get up in the years, the Amish build them a "dowdy" (small) haus on the family farm, with the farm then being run by one of the children. They take care of their own until the end, however long that is.

Many years ago, when grand pap passed, grand ma came to live with us until she passed. Both my parents are long gone, but I couldn't even fathom warehousing them someplace, or even worse, leaving them out in the elements "to take its course." I think back to all the times they both had my back, took care of me when I was down or sick, always willing to self sacrifice, whatever it took.

Unfortunately, society today has turned increasingly apathetic, not only to the elderly, but also to children, including the unborn. OK, off the soapbox, I'll show myself out now...

Not only that but I have seen where the nut and washer had fallen off and all you had left was the bolt.

So do I. Its others that don't like me on it. No I don't get mean. I get happy and fun. Everything becomes funny, like peoples faces, names. Younger days I would then beat up thier knuckles with my face!

    I have ate the worm.
